aside from admiring what files and types of files that are on your PS2 discs...is there anything useful we can get/do/view from these dvds as far as a PS2 disc to computer?
(i refuse to make a copy of any PS2 disc or even make up a backup copy or send any type of file to anyone so anything to do with piracy is out the door for this)

i ask this out of plain curiousity (and boredom for a lack of a better thing to do at 1am) and await to see the possibilities i see before me :)

I've been wondering the same thing. I'd really like to see if I could dig up the 3d models of the cars and try to convert them to a format I could play with. Make body kits etc.

The only reason I would attempt to copy the disk is if I could modify the car bodies and rewrite to another disk to see if they would work in the game.

I'd really like a BRE body for my 510 or remove the wings from certain cars for example. It wouId be a cool companion to hybriding if that ever happens with GT4.

Unfortunately my compy's dvd drive is dead so I haven't even been able to try to access any of the files yet...

Almost all files that appear on PS2 discs are unreadable, as Windows does not recognize them. You will need a hex editor to "view" the files, if any. Even then, it is hit or miss, as all you will get is hex and text.

And no, you cannot magically edit 3D models and magically add body kits to them. To do so would be ridiculous.

some people just cant be friendly to people who come new to things such as this...

am i the only one at this board that has the humble attitude and without any pride to admit that i dont know how to do something?
