Real Life Accuracy

So I had some time with 2004 Honda Integra Type-R completely stock just like
in the game. Now I bend over backwards trying to emulate the game to the real life counterpart. First no matter what I do it the game accelerate 9.x seconds compare to 6.3 seconds I achieved and so as others. The shifting is very slow on GT5:P. When at a complete stop with no revving whatsoever and do a full throttle acceleration, it always has tire slipping like it's 300hp+. Regardless of what car and traction control, the power to weight ratio on this thing is not enough to do a wheel spin unless your tires are low quality with faded threads. (I was using S2 BTW). So what gives? All the specs are accurate, weight, etc. Also the brakes in real life is better than in game.

Stock tires should between N3s and S1 as well... forward traction has never been strong in GT games, its getting better... Its going to be hard to achieve the real life 6.3 due to like you said, the shifting is slower than in real life, for some reason they suck, the integra gear box allows for some seriously quick shifts, while in the game he takes like half a second longer...

In real life were you going full throttle all the time or were you modulating... I would imagine that in 1st you would have to control the wheelspin initially?

Also what tires did the real life car have?

Im obsessed with real life comparison, but GT never quite gets it...

That gear changing thing has always bugged me. Can anyone explain to me why you can't "snap" or "race change" gears. That's what we call it here but what it means is, lets say your in a z06 and you revved and dumped it in 1st gear, its spinning the rear's and you want to quickly change into 2nd gear to keep the wheels spinning. (This is all with a G25 by the way) As soon as you clutch it and quickly put it in 2nd to "race change" like as if your drag racing, it just doesn't want to go into gear, instead it goes into neutral and you have to slowly put it into 2nd. It's so annoying.

Play LFS and try it, you will know what I mean. LFS does it so perfectly. Another thing that bugs me, when changing gear you have to completely let go of the gas, put the clutch in and put it into gear. It doesn't allow you to change the gear without letting go of the gas. The shifting isn't at all realistic in GT. I still love it to bits, even though these things do annoy me. Let's hope its fixed in GT5

1. You can't flat-shift in GT5P because it emulates clutch engagement and disengagement. You can shift faster with the clutch... supposedly.

2. You can't change tire pressures. On the rock hard pressure GT5p seems to run, you won't get any sidewall wrinkle, so no forward traction.

3. Throttle calibration is very sensitive on GT5P. It's very hard to manage a proper launch... also consider you can't actually do a proper clutch drop or clutch slip launch due to #1

You'll never hit the same 0-60 times. Now if GT5 allows you to change tire pressures... it might be possible...

dude i just ran a 6.XX first time out in an integra (0-62mph) im using a g25 with the clutch enabled, seems the shiftings quicker and more realistic using that.

Flat-shifting was removed after the leaderboards were full of flat-shifters.

Actually I found something odd, you can flat-shift in GT5P still all you want..... under 20km/h... :p

I was fooling around (doing burnouts) and noticed it when I was trying to 'light up' second gear quickly before the car gathered too much speed :)

It's so annoying that you can't race change through gears. I can live with no flat shifting, I don't do that anyway, but race changing really annoys me. The game forces you to change gear like your on a sunday drive instead of racing. Arghh!!

I hope flat shifting comes back for GT5, its essential for drifting... I hate when you drift in a full manual car and cannot accelerate out of a corner while drifting because it stops when you shift... thats of the reason why i use the IS-F.... the best shifting ever....

Well in the drifting case it's not even flat-shifting, I just hope atleast they allow us to shift while the wheels are spinning (properly spining not just slipping).

I am more than happy to risk drivetrain damage from flat-shifting though and even if they restrict it so you can't flat-shift during time trials.

Well you can with the G25 and clutch, you can shift as fast as you physically can as long as you lift while doing it (doesn't even have to be a full lift).

i was going to start a thread about this.

The reason the shifting is so slow in gt is because the final gear(top speed) is so high for stock car,

Prime example, the lotus evora, what around 270mph in the game? as well as the Ferrari f40, if you put the top speed to 203, the car is more lively and shifts alot quicker and wont bog in the corners... What were pd thinking when they put in the final gears?

For example, take a nissan skyline coupe(non tuned) get the top speed from 206 to 170 and now see how much quick it shift's. it way more exciting and sounds better....and faster.

Just put a realistic top speed in the final gear, and you will pretty much be alot more satisfied, tested this for all the car's and it works..Quite well.

No excuse.....They need flat shifting....Its apart of real motorsports, But there some sort of damages that come along with flat shifts. That why I said they need some sort of wear and tear meter on the main components of the your vechicle.

Uh... because that's what the final gears actually are?

Gran Turismo's gearbox data is modelled exactly after the real-life gearboxes.

I'm all for wear and tear and even outright sudden failure to go along with flat-shifting and general hard driving, but no wear meters (in race) please, except realistic things like water/oil temp, oile pressure etc.

If a part can break from flat-shifting(or other abuse) I dont want a in race meter showing me how much more abuse it can take, in real life you can destroy parts on the first attempt.

I can't recall the exact tires that was fitted but I know for a fact that it has Pirellis. Changing the transmission setting did help but without going through each gear and just went to the final gear, it still not hitting the real life time. Handling however is top notch. From the body roll to the understeer. Not 100% accurate but relatively close.
