First, I would just like to introduce myself as a gran turismo fan since the days of GT1 but after losing in the vitz race in SSRII in gt3 for the 50th time, I put my gran turismo racing on hiatus for nearly two years.
Thanks to GT's incredible community, I finally managed to tune my vitz and win that race and have been into GT more than ever.
Now to business. Possibly one of GT's biggest flaws is the lack of licenced championships. Sure, GT ultimately boils down to racing but one of the reasons it is so enthralling is the "completeness" of the game, GT4 is simply huge. Nevertheless, knowing that the trophies you are competing for in GT4 actually exist would make the game even better.
As GT4 could mirror an actual (albeit very long) racing career, I was wondering if anybody could help me put together a list of the real-life counterparts of GT4's championships.
Here's for a start : (these ones are rather obvious)
FORMULA GT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP = FIA Formula 1 Championship
DEUTSCHE TOURING CAR MEISTERSHAFT= DTM Championship
CIRCUIT DE LA SARTHE 24H I = 24h du Mans
TOUS FRANCE CHAMPIONNAT = Tour de France Auto (?)
All Japan GT Championship = JGTC (500 ?)
Endurance Infineon World Of Sports = Grand Prix Of Sonoma (American LeMans)
World Circuit Tour = FIA GT (?)
Nurburgring 24 Hours= Nurburgring 24 Hours
Super Speedway Endurance = NASCAR (Generic probably)
British GT Cup = BTCC (?)
Clio Trophy = ELF Renault Clio Cup
New Beetle Cup = Beetle Cup
Sunday Cup = Local Club Races (?)
European and Japanese Championship = SCCA Speed World (?)
It would be really interesting to find a good counterpart for the sunday cup championship for instance, which could be an ideal starting point for racing in the real world.
I'm pretty sure there are actual counterparts to even some of the more obscure manufacturer races (copen races, anyone ?) and hope some of you out there are interested in this.
Feel free to add to this list and if we get most races done, it could possibly be added to a gt4 event database.
I'll be looking forward to your responses, until then, happy racing. 👍
Edit : Thank you very much for suggestions, keep'em coming 👍
