What's do you or your family put up? I was close to buying a fake tree this year but decided against it. I think I might have done the same thing last year. Fake ones are convenient and more economical in the long run. They also have that "perfect" look, which can be good or bad. But the real ones have the smell, which I love, and their imperfections are where their charm lay. But we found one that is pretty close to perfect and I can't believe I actually wanted a fake one now.

Crap - I thought pictures of tits were coming up..... :grumpy:

Fake. It was cheap-ish, and we can hide the fake look of it by basically sticking 14,000W of fairy lights on. It goes in the garage for the rest of the year, which saves us from worrying about it or having to hoover up the needles. And financially it makes a lot of sense.

The smell is a good part of a real tree though.

^ what he said...ah well, i'm off to study - when i say study, i really mean sit in my room not doing anything because my brain doesn't want to work right now

The set that I woke up next to or the ones I'll fall asleep to tonight???

Well, due to my wife and I living with 10 winged beasts, we have to stick with a fake tree. Mainly for their safety. Never know what's been sprayed on a real tree before it comes to your house (insecticide and such).

I always had real trees growing up, and the trek to find the right one was often a few hours.

It was an event in itself to get he tree up for the holidays. Something the entire family joned in. Now, it's more or less when we get a chance to do it, and it comes down the day after christmas. :(

I'm all for taking it down right away. Any later than New Years Day is simply lazy.

Here in AZ you can apply for a permit to cut your own tree in the national parks. They designate certain areas and if you get a permit they send you a map and a tag for the tree you cut. The only problem is the type of trees you'd want don't grow here. Arizona is very arid, even in the wintry, snowy mountains the Ponderosa and Junipers are hardly suitable for decorating in the house. But the experience of trekking up to the mountians to cut your own tree is a great day, especially if there's snow. I guess if you lived in Michigan or Oregon, where all the good trees seem to come from, it'd be more worth it.

Yep,... tons of 'em here in Mich,...

We used to go out on my uncles 'back-40' and hack one down every year.

The only good thing is the smell, I agree. But the clean-up hassle out weights the aroma,... what a pain in the arse.

We got a hand-me-down fake tree this year...... I could care less if we even had one at all,... the only thing its good for is keeping the cat entertained. But then again,.. he's wrecked two ornaments all ready, so, maybe the ol' lady will get sick of him doing it and just not put one up next year :D

we real....but i think fake is better *

but i chose real, cant compare to that smell & knowing its the real thing, it also adds to the xmas spirit.

I'm with Rumple and Der Alta... reality rules!

We have developed a kind of tradition with my family and my sisters where we find a new fun place to go every year: horse-drawn wagons, a little steam train, etc. and we go get live trees for both our families and my mother. It's kind of fun.

We have gotten live, balled trees in the past, and replanted them with some success. That's kind of difficult to do though I wish I had time and energy to keep it up.

Real Tree. Title had my mind going for a minute; a Moderator breaking the AUP? So I clicked to find out what was going on and found that it was christmas trees. I have a real one, just watered it before I came online...

You got to go for the real tree. My family always gets a real tree and it usually is pre-cut. Finding a cut-yourself place around home is really hard. Not many people like you cutting down their trees. :D

Real. Plenty to go around up here.

Usually Me, my parents, and brothers go on an outing Up to a place 10 miles from our house.

My family puts up a Real One. It's puts me more in the mood than a fake one would. I just hate having to water the damn thing

:D

We get real ones. It's kind of a family tradition to go on the big "tree hunt" every year; I wouldn't like Christmas half as much if we got a fake one.

Yeh. Me, my sister, and my dad all go to a place called Star of the East to buy our tree. We search for hours in the biting cold and raw weather in order to find the perfect tree. That's when Christmas really begins at my house, is after we've decorated the tree (although it has yet to happen this year and we've had the tree since Thanksgiving...)

I remember a few years ago we got one on Christmas Eve. My dad found one in a parking lot with no one there and just left a note saying that he took the tree. The tree wasn't half bad, either.

We've always had a fake tree, but it actually looks quite real, I believe it was an expensive fake tree my parents bought before they had me. I've kind of grown up with that tree, plus here in Mississippi there aren't a whole lot of tree farms and such, even then they are expensive. We've mostly got oaks and pine trees and such, too many squirrels.:odd:

oh great first the lucky charms thread now this...this place is full of deception. I always expect threads to be about something else.....

anyway back on topic

we have a 12 ft fake tree because I'm too lazy to vacume and with the amount of lights we put on the thing would catch fire.

Unfortunately, we have a fake tree. It's such a pain to set up because you have to attach each individual branch.

pardon my language, but if i didnt know u were talking about trees. i could swear i thought u were talking about a ........never mind hahaha:lol:
