This is a conspiracy theory. But being a veteran of every GT since the game debuted back on the ps1, I have noticed a trend.

The "RUF" cars are as close as you can come to a porche in the gran turismo series. But, one thing I have noticed in the RUF cars are they are completely undrivable in stock format.

So here it is? Is it possible that rear engine cars with decent amount of horsepower just don't work in the physics engine they created? I understand there are tons of 8-60 horse rear engine cars in the game. But the cars with real life horsepower ratings above 300 basically can't drive on anything other then race car tires and even then, its a pain without major tuning.

Any thoughts?

Notice the top of the pic. It says Electronic Arts, not PD. PD doesn't have the licensing. Plain and simple.

Bad excuse is bad. Turn10/microsoft aka forza manages to make it work.

P.S. Forza is mainly sponsored by Audi yet GT manages to get their cars in the game.

This topic has been discussed over and over. I will save everyone and just report it.

Fair enough. When I searched the forums, I didn't see anything mentioning physics as a reason. Therefore it was a new angle worth discussing 💡

I can see your point about questioning the physics. But, unfortunately it's beating a dead horse. We can discuss and have 100 conversations about why Porsche isn't in the game. But it breaks down to, they aren't. It's a sad state, but it hasn't changed over the entire series. 👎

You need to come up off that gas pedal.
it's a driving simulator, you have to take some of them turns at 20mph... it's okay it'll take time to get used too, a wheel helped me out.

Ive driven the car for literally 50+ hours on a track in game, especially the late 80s models. I use a steering wheel and I do just fine in online racing.

The fact of the matter is the cars are rubbish compared to anything with similar power/weight ratios. This is not the case in real life. A 911 is an amazing car in real life, but the "ruf" in game basically makes you think that taking a turn at 60 mph would kill u instantly if you touched the gas pedal. That's just not the case. The 911 is an amazing handling car and RUF basically improves on the porche design. The car in game is just a horrid recreation of the real thing which is why i question the physics model.

I don't think a huge developer as PD couldn't manage to get RR physics properly.

So I'm still on the licensing point of view.

Interesting question regarding the physics...

Id like them to get rid of the RUF altogether... then finally Porche may jump onboard... (just think of the 40-50 different 911's they'd have in it, it would become the new Skyline / Miata ) lol

Not to be condescending, but PD is not "huge" by any means. They create one game for 2 platforms and basically released a game that could have definitely used a larger development team.

My opinion is going to differ, I utilize the driving line.

They have a higher learning curve due to so much weight on the rear, but they are still formidable cars. Also, Ruf does not equal Porsche, so just because a Porsche 911 kills the competition in its power class, doesn't meant the Ruf will do the same. And on top of that, the latest Ruf is from early last decade.

Isn't RUF a custom team? So their car's aren't going to be tuned like a Porsche anyway. kinda like Rinnsport, Hennessy etc... right?

While I do agree with you. If you look at the history of Ruf, all of their cars basically outperformed the porches of the area by leaps and bounds. Second, I am talking about RUFs on anything but racing tires. Especially in stock format, the car is so tail happy compared to the physics of the real life cars. Ruf created amazing machines in the late 80s/early 90s. They were not these suicide machines that will lose their rear end on any steering angle outside the first 15 degrees once G forces are pushing on the car, even is small amounts.

As others have already stated, the reason Porsche isn't in the game is due to licensing. Nothing more.
