The BEST present a wife can get a man. She bought me 8 laps in a stock car that I got to drive (coach is on the passenger side). The track is the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, IL.

Was awesome to really get an idea of what's going on in those races. Thanks to GT5 for teaching me how to enter and exit a curve. Whole different ballgame with real G forces exerting themselves on you. We all started staggered at 5-10 second intervals. 8 of us were on the track at a time. I started first, and caught all but 2 drivers. So, I'm pretty pleased with my performance. I've never driven a car faster than 100 mph before. So, this was a hell of a thrill.

0:23 and 1:51 are the money shots. The wife caught two laps on video where I passed other cars.

Damn man looks like you had a great day, did you have that days of thunder music playing through your head?

Looks like fun. And yes playing simulation games truly does improve your times on real life tracks.

Awesome! I've been on the Richard Petty driver experience ride along around Daytona. The G forces we pulled going to the top of turn one near had me fainting! Absolutely amazing, would love to drive it like that though, they only allow 2 cars near each other at one time.

Would have been more awesome if we got to see a car cam or something.

Nevertheless, getting to board a race car despite driving 8 laps on an oval is one great present.

I get to do the Richard Petty experience at TMS when I turn 18 :D (just expecting it because my brother got to).

When I watched him last year, he climbed out of the car and the instructor immediately complimented him on how he tackled the dog leg on the front stretch and on how fast he was going. He didn't seem nervous after playing all the EA Nascar games, it can't be that hard :sly:

The only thing going through my head was "OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!!"

The car cam was $80.00, and you had to sign up for it prior to driving. I wasn't confident enough going into the event to have it immortalized on film. I wasn't so much scared about the driving, I was more worried about not doing well.

I've never done the Richard Petty event, but the Dale Jarret just rocked. 8 cars on the track at the same time. No pace car, you're driving as fast as you can. You have an instructor in the passenger side giving you hand signals. Passing is allowed, and encouraged. Just awesome!!
