Hello Everybody!

I want to share with You my idea (prototype) of making realistic clutch mod for T500rs. Idea isn't exactly mine. I've seen something similar like this used in HE Sim Pedals.

In my construction I use two springs, a small piece of wood, few metal elements that You can buy for example in Castorama or Obi stores and two of them are little bit modificated. You'll also need a few screws. That's all ;) If you have such a stuff in your garage, the total cost of this solution can be minimal.

Don't be afraid You can brake something or damage your hardware. It's quite safe ;). Only harm I've made to my pedals was three holes for

screws from the bottom. But if you try this - you take all the risk.

After modification You have much nicer feel of the clutch. The pedal is not so soft and we have different pressure in different positions. Just like in HE Sim Pedals or ClubSport Pedals V2 for example.

So look at the pictures and my YT video to see how I was build it. Feel free to make Your own modification and please share it here.

There are many configurations and maybe some of these can be better than mine.

Sorry for my "no so perfect" :) English - I'm not a native.

I love seeing projects like this, good job.

A possible issue over a period of time could be metal fatigue at the spring ends. Especially at the arrowed end below. You're probably planning on working on details like that once you get more seat time on it, however some others might not realize things like this.

Nice job 👍 Thanks for sharing.

Welcome to GTPlanet, and your english is fine :)

Thx and welcome Everyone.

I don't know is it innovative (maybe for t500rs), but I think it should open some minds for making much more complicated, or just different, mods for all three pedals separately. Imagine t500rs with such a clutch, similar construction for a gas pedal, with harder spring, and LC for brake. Even if You plan to build your own pedal set You can still use t500rs pedals as a base.

At the moment I have to take care of my cockpit (I'm rebuilding it), but later I'll return to this project for sure. There are a lot of details waiting for improvement. Anyway thx for showing some weaknesses.

See You soon ;)

Yes, correct. With this idea U can't ;( Maybe if You get rid of this black metal plate You could try to use it with similar construction in GT mode, but I've not try this yet.

Hi do you have more pictures and list of parts used? Fancy making this.

Agreed. John Bodin posted link to that video before (pretty sure it was that one) and it looks fantastic.

But it would be awesome if OP could post a parts list. And even better if you could describe the order in which everything is done.

I still don't understand what all those components are, but I've been trying to take the core concept and McGyver up an elegant solution using stock hardware from Lowes.

Unfortunately, every time I think I've got something, I discover I've overlooked something. I guess that's the problem with trying to be simplistic on a complex issue. Back to the drawing board again.

I don't think you can solve this with a Swiss army knife, a paperclip and some chewing gum this time. :dopey:

You just reminded me totally indirectly to get a new battery for my Swiss watch though. Thanks. :)

I'm a fool with tools. I'd basically abandoned my original plan and decided to cut some stuff up with the dremel. I even thought I shouldn't take the saw to the black plate until I figured out what I was going to do, but eh. I figured I'd cut anything that could possibly pose an issue.

Turns out my original plan actually seems pretty valid. And I could have probably gotten away with just 1.5" X 1.5" cut with the dremmel:(

Oh, well. I think I've got something that's pretty solid in theory now. I just need to buy a couple more parts from Lowes. Assuming it works, it'll be a pretty simple mod (assuming you have a dremmel and are willing to mutilate a little.) Think parts will end up costing around 12 or 13 dollars.

*knock on wood*

Think I'm gonna cut my losses (time and money) and just give it up. I had a rough build going and it's working as a glorified stiffer spring for me. I'm even using thicker springs, but I was expecting a sort of pop action. I'm not sure why I was. Now that I look at it closer.

I still needed to come up with one more piece to permanently affix the thing, but at least for my attempt, it's not worth finishing it up. Wish I hadn't dremmeled the top black part now.

It looked really cool and complex though. LOL. Thought it was some mean looking contraption that would impress until I put my foot on it.

You are aware that there is a load cell mod available for the T500, right? If not, check my signature line.

I love this idea, very smart, I dont' see this working in GT mode right?

That was one of the critical requirements for me with my load cell mod -- the final design HAD to work in both F1 mode and in GT mode with no additional modifications.

Those sort of design constraints really limit your options when it comes to things like this.
