Reality-smality!

There are tooooo many reality shows! And not one is anything close to what reality really is. And it just keeps getting worse. Theres like a bunch of survivor clones (:confused:), the many clones of The Batchlor (or was it a clone?) such as the Batchlorette and Joe Millionaire. Then there's the American Idol series, which has been copied off TV several times.

And now there's up a new round of crappyness and stupidity! The NBC show Are You Hot? (:irked:) and Fox's show Married By America (:odd:), which if you watch either of those for very long, your IQ actually goes down!

:( What happened to all the GOOD TV shows?! I think they stopped making them when someone decided to stick people on an island and make them rough it as a competition. Good think they havn't taken off shows such as The Simpsons and King of the Hill and Smallville and the rest of the few good shows out there.

They should change television to "realityvision" becuase that's almost all thats on anymore!

This is exactly why I have Satillite TV. And you're right. They(ABC, NBC and FOX) seriously need to come up with some better programming. Its the same old tired formula. How many versions of the same basic show have we seen where someone gets married on tv? It all started (and failed) with that Marry a millionare on ABC a few years ago. And the latest craptactular show that uses this formula(the reality show)? "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!". Granted, the celebrities were doing it for a good cause but it was ridiculous to see them put bugs all over themselves and whatever else they did. I'm done.. I'm basically rehashing what you've said already.
 
Why bother creating something new when they can regurgitate the same old garbage? The general masses will watch it and think it's great so they can talk about it for the next week.

Maybe if people as a whole started to watch something intelligent, or at least something decent, networks would create something new, something better. But for now, reality TV is working.

Well although I like some of them, I do agree that there are too many, but I don't know how you can say that shows like The Simpsons and King of the Hill are intelligent. Don't get me wrong, I like them too, but they are by no means intelligent shows.
 
Married by America rules! There just aren't enough shows based in reality where you can learn a contestant luuuvs kittens and saved orphans in poor countries, and would be as humanitarian as a spouse, too. A big old awwwww fest.

The weakest link jumped the shark when Ron Jeremy was a contestant.

The Simpsons have been slowly slipping downhill over the past few years. Granted I still tune in most every week, but I've noticed that I laugh fewer times.

That's not a knock on the simpsons, as it's probably one of the top ten shows out there.

I do have to say that the new CSI style shows are improving the airwaves. A Program that shows people thinking a process through.

Unlike "Friends" and other Sitcoms where if any one character stopped fora half a minute and thought about what they were doing, there would be no show.

Sitcoms are on my top ten list of "The Fall of Western Civilization"

I'll ditto the note that Reality TV is useless. Watch fear factor three weeks in a row. They pick out the same 6 contestants each time.

yeah The Simpsons have been goin downhill... the reruns that come on at 5 every day here are better than the new ones that come on sunday night

Married by America is a total piece of ****. I'll risk sounding like some Puritain here but... it's just so sleazy and immoral. I wonder how many little girls watch this show that promotes promiscuity and smutty voyeurism. Everybody on the show is a whore, including the men. Oh why oh why does The Simpsons have to be on FOX?
 
This so called "reality ty" keeps me playing my PS2 in the evenings. I know I'm not missing anything good on TV.
I currently watch the History Channel, Discovery, The Learning Channel (love "Junkyard Wars" thanks to the UK for that one), and Star Trek TNG on TNN, JAG on USA, and that about covers it. You can fit all the "good" new TV shows into a thimble with room for several Semis full of manure.

THe Friday nite "Trek Marathon" is one of my favorite TV times. 4 episodes back to back.
 
*drool* too bad i don't get cable or anything..

it used to come on my tv at like 4 AM so I'd stay up every night to watch it and would be dead tired at school.
 
Man, I'm so sorry. The "new" TNN does what they call "Bonus Treks" every Friday starting at 7:00pm Central. They run for four hours.
I only have to stay up late for Voyager Reruns.

I definitely have to agree. There is waaaay to many reality shows. Wait, let me rephrase that. REALLY STUPID REALITY shows! Well, I really like American Idol I have to admit that. I'm completely addicted. Even though Simon can go over and beyond the gift of rudeness he does know what he is doing. In my opinion, Survivor's just gotten old. Big Brother was just stupid. The Bachelor and The Bachelorette is interesting, but too fake. And dare I say, Married By America and Are you Hot? have got to be the absolute dumbest things I have ever seen before in my life. :odd:
