Tried numerous times to get a perfect set up buying racing medium tyres, messing with the downforce and suspension settings, playing around with the traction control and ABS settings and still having no joy finishing last all the time, any advice people ?

I had the same problem. I really rubbish using the pad with fast cars. I bought a driving force gt wheel and manage to get gold overall, but even then it want easier. But I was in a rush to do it.

I probably could if done it with a pad but would if taken loads of practice.

I'd say just practice.

Use your FGT in other races to get used to how it handles or go practice the tracks in the championship .... all of them are fairly easy apart from suzuka at the end

Good luck 👍

Racing softs!

Find a tune here: www.gt5-tuning.com

Keep TCS at 8, and everything else on (ABS at 1, active steering at mild).

are the racing softs definently going to work? i dont want to waste too much money you see? But thanks for the link 👍

if you arent using racing softs you shouldnt even really be trying

I also struggled mightily until I used:

(DS3 controller)

TC - 6
Active Steering - Mild
ABS - 10
Stability Mgt - OFF

I didn't tinker with the setups too much. Softened the shocks and left the Springs as they were by default. Increased the ride height according to the track.

Shocks Extension - F/R 5/7
Shocks Compression - 4/6
Sway Bar - 6/7
Toe - -15/+20
Brakes - 7/2

Fuji, Indy, Monza Suzuka - F/R +1/+5
Monaco 0/+4 (if you ride the curb downhill after the tunnel, raise it up 1)
Nurburgring +4/+8

It is highly recommended to Gold each individual one before beginning the Championship.

I used a DFGT to Gold this event but I will share the approach I used.

1) I couldn't react fast enough to drive competitively when I tried at first. My reactions were too late. I quit trying.
2) When I qualified for the Redbull Challenge I started to try it and was having the same problem only worse.
3) I had been driving manual transmission and switched to automatic on Redbull which helped considerably because now I had only to concentrate on braking, turn in and acceleration. I worked on Redbull (I still haven't even bronzed on it) and my times were getting better and I was beginning to "keep up" with my driving.
4) I went back to the FGT Challenge and all of a sudden the race was slowed down and I could start winning the races. I got gold in the Challenge by winning all the races except Cote and Sazuka.

I really like the Sazuka track and find it very challenging with the FGT. I can beat the best AI cars on a lap or two basis but they rarely make big mistakes and I found it very difficult to drive at winning lap times at Sazuka for 20 laps without making a big mistake (a spin out, or a badly over shot corner). I kept working on Sazuka until I finally got gold in it.

I may go back to Cote and try it but it is a very difficult track to win on unless you get to the lead very early. It isn't all that easy to do...

So for me switching to automatic and driving the Redbull Challenge were the secret to getting gold in the FGT Challenge.

I used racing softs, TCS 4, ABS 10, SRF on and ASM on, default setup, automatic. Easily golded everything except Suzuka where I spun out at least five times (it was even a dry race, duh). Golded it a day later.

I used DS3 for the championship.

My solution was to move on & challenge Sebastian Vettel. I have never made it, however driving X1 & watching Bob & Vettel driving it makes me feel easy to handle FGT. With a DS3.

:dopey:Exactly the same method as mine.

thanks guys i think changing to the racing softs has worked the grip is a little better and won a non championship race at indianapolis by 3.3 sec and was consistently in the 1.12 range lap wise.
