rebadging my IS300

can anyone here get me some pics that will help me out?finding out that my gran prix is totaled i decided to get the car that i wanted back when i got that car but i couldn't afford, a 2002 toyota altezza. but since im live in america i got its sister the lexus is300. and im wondering if anyone has pics that can help me rebadge
it into an altezza. and anything that is differant like interior peices and stuf like that, just anything that can help me turn my is300 into an altezza.

No, it's faster.
Are you going for a total conversion (minus RHD), or do you just want to get 't3h JDM tyt3' little bits and pieces? A total conversion would require swapping out your 2JZ for a 3S, which probably isn't a great idea.

Yeah, the Altezza doesn't have the same motor as the IS300. The Altezza AS200 and RS200 are both slower then the Lexus IS300.

There was an IS430 concept car that wont make it to production. Next year the IS300 will be replaced by the IS250 and IS350.

i would not recommend it because they are as we know very simillar cars but......super street recently had a section and they were talking about the dimensions and how the IS300 is slightly larger <8- ) anyways be happy you got a awsome car! i wish i had one :)

Since I dont know much about this car or all about what trim options you have like rims and apearance packages and stuff. Heres what I do know. The IS300 has a 200 hp 3.0 liter V6, whereas the Altezza RS200 has a 200 hp 2.0 liter inline 4. The Altezza is lighter and faster.

Although stock the Altezza is faster, being at a lesser state of tune the 3.0 liter in the IS300 will be more responsive to mods. If you plan to modify it that is. Does anyone know of a good site with stuff on modified lexus'ses (wow i screwed that word up)

I wouldn't touch it. If you want it to appear as though it were the Altezza, then fine, but what is that going to accomplish? Just think, you could be putting all that money spent on conversions and add-ons into making the car a sleeper, like that guy who has a black one thats sponsored buy the army. He has an 11-second daily driver with nearly stock interior and only minor exterior changes. Kind of weird though how the US Army is sponsoring someone with a car made by people they were fighting againt nearly 50 years ago to the day.

Yeah, ok no. The car does not have a 200hp V6.

What is wrong with giving straight up answers to the guy? He doesnt want to do a full conversion, he wants to rebadge it to say Altezza. Not that complicated. Replace the front grill, debage the back except for Altezza. Not exactly rocket science.

I thought the IS300 has a 3.0 inline 6, that is why its called "I"s300. Am I wrong or what?

The I has nothing to do with the inline engine, or else the car would be renamed VS250/350 next year. I can't remember the exact reasonings behind Lexus names, but I believe the S stands for sedan. The LS = Luxury Sedan. The SC = Sports Coupe. I remember reading that somewhere, but I'm probably horribly off on this one...

Well on that note, who the hell knows what every letter stands for in front of a car's name? Who to say what "R", "Z", "GT" and all that stand for? We know the engine letter classifcations and such, buch name somehting a thung here and basically the same thing somewhere else something different? (ala Discovery -> LR3)

I'm speaking strictly about Lexus. Where did I ever say anything about any other manufacturer?

You bring up an interesting point, though. In 2003, there was an S6, an S60, and an S600 on the market. Three different makes, three very different cars, yet without the manufacturers name preceeding, a bit confusing.

I don't understand why you are asking this question here at GTPlanet and not at is300.net.
The folks over at .net will know better than the people here.

I have a IS300, and as far as I know, the things that you need to make your US IS300 into a JDM Altezza (cosmetically) is a new front grill and badges.
The interiors are identical between the cars so you don't need to do anything on the inside.
All these parts are available at www.is300.net either in their .net Store, or through the Member sale & trade forum.

If you want to remove the original Lexus badging, you will need a hair dryer and some dental floss. Maybe a orbital buffer if your lazy.
Heat the badges with the hair dryer until the glue that holds them on becomes soft. Then take the floss and drag it between the badge and the body. Probably take you about 15 minutes to complete.

But again, there may be a few more modifications you can do to make a more complete Altezza look that I'm not aware of. I've never looked much into doing this to my car, so it would be your best bet to ask your question over at .net.

Good luck.

You're talking to a guy who's likely doesn't use dental floss.

Edit: I wouldn't mess with the perfectly good block and transmission, either. It it ain't broke, why fix it?

What the hell is a 3JZ? You just made that up, didn't you?

im going for everything but engine and rhd. because im thinking about doing a supra block and supra six speed transmissoin

Uh, it is a Supra block already.
It has a 5 speed now, yes? That's probably the W58. Good box, they've been using it since the MkII Supra. The six speed you're referring to is the V160 (used in turbo MkIV Supras, nonturbos got the W58). If you have a W58 now I'm just going to simplify things a little for you: No. You cannot put a V160 in your car, it won't work.

Yes, you can do a V160 in the IS300. There are already a few boosted IS3's out there with them. There are actually 3 (maybe 4, I can't quite recall) tranny's that can be used in the IS300. The W57 is what comes stock on the car. It's good up to about 340'ish RWHP. Then you can get the W58, which is what was on the NA Supra. It will hold a bit more power than the W57.
Also, you can drop the Supra TT internals into the 2JZ-GE and also use it's bottom end in the IS300. And if you're really adventurous, you can put the 2JZ-GTE, but that's one hell of a project. :scared:

There are actually quite a few parts from the Supra that you can bolt right onto the IS300.

Yeah, I said he can't do it. :P

Good luck, only shops have performed successful V160 swaps to date, it requires too much custom fabrication to do in your garage.

With the v160 you need a new axel, new bellhousing, have to custom cut and weld the shift linkage to fit the IS, you have to shave some parts of the drive tunnel under the car to keep the tranny from rubbing, you need custom mounts, and about 20 other things I can't remember.
From the South Eastern Lexus Owners Club

I am surprised to hear that it has been done before though, reading up on it some more now.

i accualy planned on having my freind who owns a tune shop help me out and a couple of days ago i figured that i already had the supra block just not supra internals and im not going to do supra internals cause if i want to go through all that i should just get some aftermarket internals from eagle or somewhere. wich im thinking about doing and getting a turbo, MSD ignition, a good computer, and a Tein suspension kit and just turn it into a drifter so i can live up to my user name Altezza drifter
