I need a speaker system for my PC, something with decent bass and clarity. I need it for PC gaming and for music. I am thinking of a 2.1 system because i only have a stereo o/p on my sound card..

i only have about £45-50 - 70-80 USD..

i have been looking at TDK XS-iVS60 - £40 http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?TDK-MMS-XS

and Teac Powermax 1300 - £38 http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/49308/WW/TEAC_POWERMAX_1300_35W_SUB_12.5W_SAT_(RMS)/index.htm

but i am open to suggestions..

Have a look at Altec Lansing stuff - I've had a few of their kits in the past, and they've always been very good.

I'm using the Altec Lansing ADA85 (I think!!) 4.1 system at the moment, and it's very good.

If your on a 100+ dollar budget try the Klipsch Promedia 2.1

I'm currently using a Yamaha YST-MS50, the bass is pretty powerful and the the speakers are pretty good sounding.

I have no experience with 2.1 stereo systems, but if you're willing to wait and save up a little more, you could get the Logitech X530 5.1 system for around £58. Of course you won't get true 5.1 sound, but they will still sound great. My friend has a set (he doesn't have a 5.1 sound card either) and absolutely loves them, and I can vouce for the great sound quality even without a 5.1 sound card.

What do you mean not true?

I too have the X530's and I'll say right now they rock a$$. Best $80 I ever spent.

And by not "true" 5.1 it means the rears play the exact same sounds the fronts do, so technically it's like having 2.1 with 2 extra speakers behind you. So though it still 5.1 it's not "true" 5.1 because in "true" 5.1, every speaker gets a different input.

Only when using a 2.1 sound card.

I was a little confused, and right about now I feel like a big enough idiot. I wasn't sure what ITR meant by what he said - I thought he meant the speakers weren't capable of true 5.1, which they are.👍
