Aura Pro Bass Shakers seem to be very hard to get hold of in the UK now. The Shaker Centre has started selling Reckhorn BS100 which look very similar to the Aura, but without cooling fins. They are rated at 100W RMS which is twice the level of an Aura.

Can anyone say how they compare to the Auras?

I am just starting my tactile adventure and want to stick to a sensible budget, therefore I would prefer to get these rather than Buttkickers.

I already have two Auras which I originally planned to fit under the seat, but after reading a recent thread on this site have been experimenting with one on the pedals and will try one on the gear shift area next.

If the Reckhorns are stronger than the auras, they might be just the ticket for under the seat:

I Know a member here that has these tactile units and had planned on doing a review of all available tactile units, "Mr Latte". Perhaps you could msg him. Though from a value for money side they look like twice the bang for your buck

They are a little more then the Aura's, which I own and they work great. For the price if they are anything like the Aura's you would probably save money overall, with shipping.

On a side note I love your nik, "Sick" :)

Thanks Left888 - I've always had a thing about the sound of six cylinder engines working hard!

People interested in tactile might be interested to know that Parts Express are now stocking an 8 ohm version of the puck, which means you could buy just two for a 4 ohm load or use a low power stereo amp. Link:

Has anyone tried using FMods with their tactile? If so what frequency is recommended for different effects? Link:

Even though I've only got one Aura hooked up at the moment, I'm loving the effect!

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered a pair. Same money (price + delivery) as Aura (price + shipping + customs duty), but better performance. People say they're ok, so I'm confident in upcoming results (they come in addition to the 3 already existing Aura AST-2B).

Because I do not have much time, still looking for the best option for connecting the 3 Aura. For now, I chose the version L / R and LFE.
I will replace the 2 Aura (L / R) to see the difference, then the third.
And after I will buy another amp, I'll try different layout.
Although I am a novice in tactile, II will post my opinion.

Gabriel You could try one Aura on your pedal box (using L and R channels combined) and two Aura wired in series in centre of seat on LFE.

Since reading on this site that tactile on the pedals gives the most immersion I have been experimenting with that and had some great results yesterday after disappointment on the gear shift tactile effect - more experimentation with mounting required to get the best effect!

Good luck and keep everyone informed of your discoveries!

Fellow tactile Noob and GT enthusiast!

I'm still interested to know how they perform as I want to move 2 x earthquake miniquakes form the rear and maybe put 2 Reckhorns under the seat in chassis mode(rear)
I found one aura by my H shifter (TH8RS) had great results with a subtle engine vibration and a grunty Gear Change (low tone of about 40)

Additional to the 2 x Aura (L / R) under the seat, I installed 1 x Reckhorn under the pedals and 1 x Reckhorn centered under the seat. Both Reckhorn is it in series (4 +4 = 8 ohms) and are connected to (C). Third Aura (temporarily) fixed to the back of the chair and connected to LFE.
If I use a splitter for (C), one Reckhorn (4 ohm) is very sensitive to high frequencies and very audible. Something starts to vibrate: can be plywood (12mm), can be pedals case, can be Reckhorn himself.
I mention that the PS3 audio signal comes into EQ (Behringer FBQ 3102), then in A / V receiver (Sony STR-DA 1200 ES), and from there to the bass shakers.
To fully exploit Reckhorn have to change the pedal box design, and playing with the receiver settings.
P.S. Shame on me, but I do not know how to attach photos.

I bought mine earlier in the year at the same time I purchased the large sized Buttkicker LFE.
Remember when I sold you the BK Advance.

Sorry I can not give much input on this as to be honest it is sitting in the box mate, simply because I realised with testing the higher end tactile. Really after experiencing those, they are what I want/need in performance to achieve the tactile experience I am after.

By all means a user will experience some nice tactile effects with these. Their are various clones of the Aura Pro and I expect the performance to be similar.

As you know yourself other priced models like the BK Mini LFE or Clarke TST 209 also perform well. I know for a fact now that spending more will bring a major upgrade in the sheer depth and quality of the effect you get. Kinda like comparing a DF/GT to a CSW really, so like steering wheels do you want to spend sub £100 or sub £600 per unit. Both do the job and let the user experience a similar thing, just that one does it on a much higher scale of performance.

Next time you call over, I will lend you it no problems if you want to compare to your Aura Pro. Although I am keen to let you feel each of my latest babies running at approx 400 watts and compare these to running the Buttkicker LFE at 1000 watts.

Almost impossible to find reviews on these. The only way to know what they offered was buying them.

While not recommended to do so the Clarke 429 Platinum can produce at its highest volumes a low end tactile effect so deep the only way I can describe it is that it can rattle your brain within your skull

Great to see more people get into tactile though...

You lucky man M Latte!

I was inspired to try tactile after reading some of your threads. Having tried it I could never go back to a tactile free game.

My neice lives in the USA and can bring me over items if they are not too heavy (when she remembers!). What would you recommend that she brings me in the next couple of visits a couple of Aura Pros or a couple of Mini LFE SE - I am planning to switch from mono tactile to stereo and was thinking of Mini LFE SE for the rumble strips etc.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I've been thinking about upgrading the tactile in the new year. But I'll probably go with the BK mini's they will fit the rig better than the clarks..... But thats after the PC is built lol

Great that your getting interested too.
Audio tactile can be superb for games, no doubt about that, just a shame that some titles do not offer the best quality effects. Simvibe of course changes this and rewrites the rule book on what can be achieved.

I recommend you send me a PM if your interested in a few Aura Pro or Mini LFE. I have 4 Aura Pro (like new) and at least two mini LFE I will be offloading.

The Mini LFE do have more potential and direct impact. Not only supporting a much higher wattage (if you have such amplification). Their only drawback is the piston issue and that can be worked around. I am sure Carson and others would agree who have owned/used both.

It only takes someone in the community to spend some time trying some different rubber compounds, foam or silicone to reduce the piston thud. The Mini LFE SE certainly helps with it's acoustic foam but dare I suggest that an even better implemented d.i.y solution is possible for those willing to tinker and are creative.

Bang for buck though the Aura Pro are a proven entry into tactile and easily powered.
