hi all, wanted to ask you for your honest oppinons, what I should get and how much to spend on the hardware. of course the question will be asked, so $$$ low as possible:
Option(1) just the wheel and pedal setup [low cost]
Option(2) wheel plus seat and setup [higher cost]

I would like the solution to be for my Windows PC and my Playstation 4 -- racing sims.

I have been searching and looking around, just not sure.

Option(1)??

...(approx $900k USD)

or

Option(2)??
http://rseatamerica.com/index.php?route=common/home ....(approx. $1k-1.6kUSD just seat)

or

https://www.fanatec.com/us-en/ ....(approx $2k-2.5kUSD complete with wheel and etc.)

or should i go with PLAYSEAT setup and add wheel, pedals and etc. of Thrustmaster setup above?

Thrustmaster, Fanatec is overpriced and doesn't have full PS4 support, it only works with Project CARS so far.

And rather than getting a Playseat you'd be way better off going DIY or getting an Obutto oZone.

The fact he's considering Clubsport gear means he's a little more serious than just a regular console racer, Therefor PS4 support for games that Dont exist are moot.

Ignoring the fanboy posts....

The most important with a wheel is that you can use it comfortably. I recommend you think first about getting a good seat/stand which fits your needs. If you are on a budget you can buy a wheelstand (e.g. wheelstand pro, Fanatec CSL wheelstand). If you want more comfortable and higher quality you can go to a full cockpit.

After that, it becomes a question of budget versus wheel quality. You can play PC/PS4 sims just fine with a simple T300RS with stock pedals, with guaranteed compatibility with any game which is released in the coming years. Anything more than the simple T300 is not a requirement, it's just a "quality of life" improvement.

Yes, of course a high end cockpit with full Fanatec gear is nice to own, but the average simracer could be just as fast on a $100 DFGT attached to an Ikea desk. Most people start off with reasonably priced gear and work up if they discover that sim racing is a hobby sufficient to justify the upgrades. If you start off throwing $4k+ at a setup, you really have to be sure it's worth the investment. :)

thank you all for your feedback and info, really appreciate it. learning and understanding it all.

another question: what sound card 5.1 along with compatible hand in hand working 5.1 speaker system + subwoofer would you guys recommend?

Pretty much any decent sound card will support 5.1, it just depends on if you choose a speaker system that uses mini-plugs or optical. Pretty much any Sound Blaster should work depending on what you have available on your PC.

Speakers wise, the sky's the limit. Logitech Z-506 is a decent 5.1 system for under $100 tho.

Have a think about adding tactile transducers to your setup to provide engine vibration / rumble - they massively increase immersion and you can have a budget system if you get Aura bass shakers (AST2B Pro4) from Parts Express.com.
