Recommendations on Karaoke machines?

So I was wondering what my mother's Christmas gift was going to be, and then it hit me! About 6 months ago, My mom told me how nice it would be to have a Karaoke machine in the house...



That has to be it! She LOVES to sing, and a Karaoke machine can bring nothing but more fun to parties/gatherings in the house.

The only thing is that I don't really know anything about these machines. I have a friend who has an old one, but his you can only sing the songs the machine came with...

Do any of you know anything or have one? any recommendations?

You can't just print lyrics and play the stereo? Karaoke machines are pretty gimmicky if you ask me.
