I'm considering getting an XBox, and I'm wondering what non M-rated games you would recommend for it. Also, is the XBox worth the $150? And what features does the XBox have that the PS2 doesn't have? I'll appreciate all the help I can get.

Basically you get online play that doesn't suck which is a big plus over the PS2. I would say get it, even if you can find a factory refubished one for cheap.

For games, get Forza it's a very good game also PGR2 which you can pick up for 10 bucks.

If you don't like the Halo games forget the Xbox. They are still the only real AAA system seller quality games. Get it for Forza if GT4 really isn't enough for you. There are a swag of other multiplatform titles that are marginally better on Xbox (Burnout3, Splinter Cell games, GTA games), but this isn't a selling point if you've already got a PS2.

If you can't have M rated FPS games (don't know what Halo1/2 or future releases like Half-life 2 and Farcry will be rated in the US) you're really cutting out the best Xbox has to offer, making the purchase pretty worthless. Forza and PGR2 (not quite system sellers IMO) are left as the only incentives to purchse.

Ok, thanks to both of you for your advice.

Are there any good games for the Xbox that are exclusive, and again, aren't M rated? I know Forza, Burnout 3, and PGR2 would be good choices, but I wouldn't get an Xbox for just a few racing games (well, maybe I would :sly: ). And I probably won't be playing online either.

rallisport challenge 2, forza motorsports, project gotham racing 2, sega gt online, pro evo 4, lego star wars, things you can do on xbox that ps2 doesnt, good online play, copy your music too hard drive and listen to it on certain games that let you, forza, pgr, rallisport, GTA all let you.

Is it possible to hook-up my iPod to an Xbox and copy music from it? Or do I use CD's? And since you seem like a Star Wars fan, have you played SW KOTOR, and if you did, would you recommend it?

Also, thanks to both of you (Cosmic and Anakin) for your game recommendations.

Yes KOTOR 1 & 2 are by far some of the greatest RPG's I've played. I would highly recommend them. You will spend around 40 hours on each game to complete it.

I don't think you can hook up your iPod but I don't have one so I don't know. I know you can burn CD's to it though and it holds a ton. I have about 20 of my favorite CD's on there right now.

Ok, thanks for the info.

Forza motorsport is a must have Xbox game.
Thanks for your recommendation.

Also, would anyone recommend Star Wars Republic Commando for a FPS, as opposed to Halo?

Republic Commando isn't as good as Halo but it still is a really good game and it's pretty simple to pick up and learn. I would recommend getting that too.

Once bit of advice though, look for Used games. They are still good games and they are at a fraction of the price.

i was in the same position as you a few months ago and i now i have a xbox i dont use it all that much but there are a few cool games halo is over hyped though but i brought kotor 2 last week and it seems alrite.

I would recomend just about every single game that was already listed and I will add a few. Forza and Rallisport Challenge 2 are definetly top of the list and are both "MUST HAVE" games. Thes 2 games alone have more replay value than any other car racing games I have played in my life. Burnout 3 is also great especially for letting aggression out in "Takedown" mode and the "crash" modes. Also dont forget Toca 2 that was also a great game and you coudl have 20 cars on the track at the same time. Midnight club 3 is also a great game.

In soo many ways there really is no way to compare x-box to Ps2 any more. The x-box truly is better in sooo many ways and I was a PS2 fanboy forever until I bought the x-box. I still have 2 playstation 2 systems but they just never get touched anymore.
THose that dont have the x-box are truly missing out.

Except Midnight Club 3 will piss you off a lot so if you are inpatient don't bother.

Thats an excellent point so I quit playing the single player and just kept playing online. Yes very very frustrating single player especially when you get further in the game. You need reflexes of a ninja or you will redo the same race over and over again. NFSU was an easy game, MC3 not easy.

Would you still buy an Xbox even if you can't play online?

Well, I've rented MC3, and got to the point of having to restart the race 15 million times to win, and then I just returned it back to Blockbuster.:indiff: So I wouldn't get it anyway.

The x-box isnt anywhere near as fun without x-box live but it is still fun. As for Midnight club 3, like I said the single player gets old and frustrating very quick. You really have to play that game online to appreciate it. Most of the games for the x-box are focused on x-box live play and the single player is just a bonus in my opinion. Almost every x-box game is sooo much better online.

even though i hate the x-box get pgr2 its the next thing up to gt4. and for shoot em up game get Tom Clanceys Ghost Recon2. those are some pretty good games.

Thanks for all of your help. :)

I just got an X-box today that came with Star Wars KOTOR and PGR2. I also went to Blockbuster and rented Forza and RalliSport Challenge 2.

I'll tell you how it is when I set it up.

I am in this position now. I have always been more of a sony kid, my brothers had the sony's so I had them but lately (Mainly due to the Ctrl+Alt+Del comics....they just play Xbox's up so much) I have been seriously thinking about getting an Xbox.

Would it be worth buying one now or should I just wait for the 360? If I bought one now, what do I need for online play?

I already know the games I want so that isn't the question, I'm just questioning the need to spend the money if the newer version is coming out in a few months.

Get a used one, they are a 100 bucks. Then you need a Live subscription to play online. I recommend on getting one.

Any special hardware or anything for online?

How much is a subscribtion and where would I find detail on it?

You pretty much just buy the start up kit which has some software to install, no hardware though. Just plug into the back of the Box. You need high speed though, dial up isn't accepted.

I don't remember how much it is a month, I just have it taken out of my debit account. But you can check out www.xboxlive.com

Well I only have dial-up and mums a cheapo and thinks I already spend enough time on the computer without broadband but in theory, if I get broadband, the things I need to do will be done faster so I wont be on as much...too bad I have no particular aim on the internet, just stuff around.

Damn, thats online dead.
