Before anyone says anything i have searched, and found bits and bobs about capturing, but how do you catually get the video onto the camera? I am new to the whole video concept and would appriciate if someone could clear this up for me, thanks!

I doubt there is any encoding from the game signal. I ran the PS2 through my VCR.

If your DV cam has inputs, you should be able to capture that signal.

Based on what others have said, the DV camera should have the video inputs and then the DV camera processes these signals into firewire/s-video. If you want to record the video input onto the DV cassette... i'm not sure but it can be done.

It's possbile.

On my sony digital8 camera I plug the supplied A/V cable to the OUT's on my TV. Then switch your camera to play mode, rather than camera mode. You should see in your camera display whats on the TV.

The problem with recording to Digital8 or mini-dv is the quality. TV resolution is 480i, 240 scan lines every half frame. Your DV camera is recording at 720x480 or 576. When you dump that video to your computer and play that 720x480 video it looks like crap. I use ulead mediastudio pro and I can de interlace the video which helps, but realisticaly for the best video via DV, it will need to be de-interlaced and resized to 320x240'ish resolution.

(Just realized your over the pond, so you're likely to have PAL. Resolutions are a little higher, but I think the principal stays the same.)

I have a canon Canon optura 10 video camera and it works so well.

It has an S-video in port on the side of it, and a built in AV->DV converter. So, all i have to do is bring my ps2 into the room by my computer, turn it on, plug it into my camera like you would to a TV, and push a button, volia i can import video directly to my HD 👍 .

The only draw back is its sorta pricey.
