I can see that PD aimed to do here, it showed some premise, a "career in a career" mode. But using the X cars?

I really like the idea of the progression thing, start at carts and work your way up, but wouldn't the FGT been a better option, perhaps even a Formula Ford type car as well?

At least then you would have a faux Red Bull Formula 1 car :-)

They could have done this for many types of races. A karts career, a rally career, a NASCAR career, etc. With seasons, points, trophies and so on. But no. We are lucky to get a 5 race championship here and there. The shallowness of career gameplay is astounding. And this isn't even technical, it's just administration of data.

I think the only problem with that kind of career structure, is that very few drivers would go for all disciplines and that would add an edge of unbelievability.

I'm not even sure why it's called 'career' in the GT games, as I don't think that PD ever said that - maybe it's just people's reliance on stock phrases such as 'beaten the game' and 'broken' that caused it to get called that - it's really just the SP opportunity to drive in races, like it always has been.

Personally I'm not looking forward to the final races in the X14 as those beasts scare me. I enjoyed the first two rounds though and I agree, an F1 level would have been better with the X14 as prize car.
