We all agree the x2014 sounds amazing. Just like an f1 car of last season. But. The x2014 is a turbo charged vehicle. So shouldn't it sound the current f1 season. The turbo charged grunt. And not the whine of normally aspirated engine?

I've thought of that too. The x2014 has a V6 turbo and the 2014 cars have V6 Turbos as well.
I'm glad that they don't sound like today's F1s because they sound (according to Vettel) like vacuums.
And Gt don't need anymore of those, do they?

Not all V6 Turbos sound the same, amazingly.
They probably don't but f1 is compared to a Renault clio v6 turbo. And the fact is they don't sound like normally aspirated engines.

What is your reference its a fictional car

Could have the hum of ub40 comming out of the exhausts but you can not compare it to reality
Errrm my reference is all cars that have Turbo charged engines. They have a growl rather then a scream... Ub40? What's that about.

Ah ur ub40 thing after reading back I get ya :-)

Do you not hear the turbo when you lift, then?

Exactly. It's a twin turbo, it doesn't have a hybrid drive, and we don't know what sort of exhaust valves it has. For all we know it is entirely accurate.

There's also the fact that the X2014 cars retained the rev limiter from the previous era of cars instead of being restricted to 15K rpm, and even then this year's F1 cars don't tend to rev above 12-13K rpm.

If you were to keep the X2014 in the 7-13K rev range, it will sound more like what you're expecting, it's definitely throaty at the lower rpms.

Like I was said on the other thread, its an Ayrton Senna Lotus Sound. Not sure if its the same as IRL though.

Red Bull X2014 Standard.

Mercedes W05 onboard (kinda hard to find an onboard mic that makes it sound better).

Indycar onboard.

Lotus 98T onboard.

The turbo V6 sound in GT6 is way off what it should be, but you saw that coming didn't you?

The sound in GT6 screams and has a tinny sound at the top of the rev range.

Lift? What are you talking about now, I don't quite follow?

I have found something interesting with this.

With the Red Bull X2014 Standard Car you can make it sound like a current 2014 F1 car if you change gear at around 11,000 or 12,000 revs. Planting your foot kinda ruins the rev progression because of changing gears too quickly but if you give it 70 to 80% throttle and then change gear at 12,000 revs (max) then it sounds like a current F1 car. :D
To me anyway.

You have to keep in mind that the f1 turbo v6 cars aren't exactly producing 1600 hp... @ColouredBadger I've noticed that as well, and I think if you compare the power and the rpm to the f1 cars it makes the Red Bull's sound fairly accurate.

That UB-40 comment.

This thread is ridiculous....

I have a 3.0 V6 Taurus but it doesn't sound like half an Aston Martin...

So, you've heard the real X2014 then?

Please tell us what it's suppose to sound like.
This. It could sound like galloping horses and shoot rainbows out of the exhaust, it's a completely fictional car.

But wouldn't a car like that be awesome?

It would. Better than what we have now...

all I can say is that the f1 cars have very specific engine design and we cannot say that the design of the v6 turbo in the x2014 is the same as in the modurn f1 cars

Its' only fictional they can make it sound what they want to and as for the f1 sound it wouldn't sound like it as it revs higher and the engine is nearly double in size
