Anybody know, or have an interesting theory, why PD made it so you can't use your Ferrari f1 cars except against other Ferraris while you can use both the Red Bulls? Maybe they didn't want to see their FGT get beat?

(I know you can set up something spec online, but I mean in regular A-spec & B-spec races, for example.)

Licensing. Ferrari said to PD that the F1's can only race against each other.

Thanks. Maybe PD could have offered more $? No idea how that works.

Alonso & Massa should just win some more races & then maybe the prancing horsies won't be so skittish.

Wonder if GT6'll be the same.

Regards,

Rick

I doubt money was the issue  it's just the rules outlined by Ferrari.

As I understand it, it's more to do with the FIA license (held by Codemasters) that means that F1 cars are only allowed to race against other makes in the F1 201# titles.

GT gets away with by only allowing the Ferrari F1 cars to race against other Ferrari F1s.

That was what I thought I had heard, not really a specifically Ferrari thing in this case. I also think I remember reading that Yamauchi-san said something to the effect of it probably not being worth the hassle to try dealing with this anymore. I can't remember specifically but I'm sure I read it here.

Yes. If you want to simulate F1 racing with licensed F1 cars you need an F1 license from Bernie and co. Codemasters have the exclusive license for that so PD couldn't do it, single car only.

Wouldn't it be possible to race as many cars as PD could scan if they were from different years? Either that, or it'd have to be possible if they were all one specific manufacturer, seeing as we have two different cars.

Still, Bernie's not getting any younger, maybe when they finally fire him for ruining the sport he retires they'll be a bit more lenient.

Then the manufacturer can object. Can't imagine Ferrari being happy when Youtube gets flooded with videos of someone beating their F2010 with a F1 car that's decades older ( it would be even worse if it was beaten by a McLaren or something ). That's another disadvantage of not having a complete F1 license. Their F1 cars being in GT should ( according to Ferrari ) be considered as a mere act of goodwill.
Just my 2 cents, could be that my logic is flawed :p

Who knows what goes on in their heads anymore? They probably do think they'll make more money by making it ridiculously complicated and expensive to have cars from their series in a game. :dunce:
