I just noticed this over at Scion Life.com but why not implement something like what they do when someone registers?

Scion life.com Registration page
Please read and agree to each of the following:

I will keep my posts relevant and helpful
- Post replies that are on-topic and in the correct forum

I will make sure that the forums are kept family-friendly
- No pornography, insults or slurs are tolerated

I understand that only site sponsors may post commercial ads
- Sponsors support our site! No commercial sales are allowed for regular members

I promise to use the search feature before I post new questions
- You must have 20 posts before you can post in classifieds or off-topic
- Avoid the wrath of seasoned members by using the search box early and often

I will keep my signature free of images or cluttered text
- Help the site load faster by keeping your signature clean.

This might minimize "Noobs" being so "green".

How would you implement that though?

I remember installing a program once and when it came to the EULA it wouldn't let you click next unless you had scrolled through the EULA.

I just sat rolling the mouse wheel slow enough for it to think I had been reading it, then it let me go..

(or I could be making it up, it was a long time ago :p)

Although a message like that is a very good idea but there will always be one tool who skips it and then gets flamed.

Well unless you don't read it you can't register. :dopey:

There's no way to make people read something though. All it'd mean is that the people who don't want to read it just skip it.

God damn you guy are lazy and that ignorant. It's only 5 ****ing sentences. I understood it without using my brain power. :dopey:

Erm...I understand the point you were trying to make, but what I'm saying is that the people who are more likely to spam or ask questions which have been answered numerous times before won't want to read something like that. Even if they do read it, chances are they'll disregard it and ask the questions anyway.

Anyway, your attitude is a bit poor, perhaps you should calm down and read what we're saying, not what you think we're saying :p

Thats why you should have a quiz afterwards and if you fail it you can't register. Ever.

That sounds a bit like a game I was talking to someone about a while ago. I don't remember what game it was, but it had an 18 rating. Before you could play the game you had to answer a few current affairs questions to show you were 18+

Damn .. I feel sorry for the kid who buys that game like 10 years down the road and hasn't ever heard of anything they're talking about even though he's like 25.

It's a great idea in theory. In practice, there's already a requirement that you agree to the TOS and AUP, which nobody ever reads.

It's a good idea, but has already been said: people who are going to be trouble are not going to read it anyway, and people who are going to read it wouldn't have been trouble anyway.

Perhaps we could modify that "Posting and You" flash video, to have the final join button at the end. So people would have to watch it the whole way through before they join.

Users are already presented with basic rules and regulations before they begin the registration process. Perhaps a simplification and clarification of these rules would cause more people to read them...thanks for the suggestion. 👍

I really think the biggest problem at the moment is users making relevant threads, but throwning them in the gt4 area because they don't realize we have the rumble strip.

VIP what were you doing on scion forums?
