Although none of the licences in the game are required to progress through GT5, I feel that I would actually learn a thing or two if I actually attempted them.

As a IA licence holder from GT4, I guess I could obtain these without much trouble;)

Has obtaining any of the licences made you any better of a racer?

Not really.

They should replace a-spec points, IMO

And maybe make that some cars you have to have a certain license. I'm looking at you, X1.

Well, in the case of obtaining a non-traded or non-B-Spec_LvL_35 X2010, the S.Vettel X Challenge would be (sort of) a challenge worthy of the performance that the X2010 delivers.

Meaning, the X challenge is like a licence to drive and own the X2010

It challenges your skill level, in particular areas of driving.
Of course, this varies from driver to driver and test to test.

Yes, I think it helps make you better from a practice and familiarity standpoint.

Its difficult to imagine that in the process of golding all the licenses, your skill level did not improve, at least a little, in some area.

At the least it makes you more familiar with the game. It can also improve the skills of many drivers, though the expert seasonal events and some of the special events might be the most educating part of the game for more skilled drivers.

Licenses are like much of the game... most are pretty easy, some are hard and the hard ones teach you how to overcome obsticles in GT5. Like in much of the game the level of difficulty isn't necessarily linked to the level of the licenes.

Special events are much the same. The harder ones aren't necessarily the highest level ones, although the Vettel Challenge is in the correct place.

If I were to start the game over I would start with the licenses and then the Challenges because the rewards are some very nice automobiles which can advance your progress in the A and B spec of the game.

The licenses really helped me get the hang of my DFGT right after i purchased it.
