I just started using the Remote Race feature yesterday playing directly from the PS3. After reading the in-game manual for remote races I got the impression that spectating the race was optional but it seems I got that wrong. The manual says something along the lines of: "the host can spectate the race". It's the word "can" that makes me think that the race can go on while I can focus on other things in GT5. Otherwise I don't really see the point in racing against your friends. It's almost like the host is helping his friends earning money and XP without any effort while the host must sacrifice valuable playing time by spectating a race without any interaction. Does the host really have to watch the entire race and if so what's in it for the host when the singleplayer B-Spec mode in turn offers player interaction?

2:
Why is a specific car shown for each event in the remote race main menu? The cars used in the actual race are mostly different anyway.

3:
Does remote racing not affect driver class for B-Spec drivers?

4:
Is it possible to turn off the music plaiying in the background when spectating a remote race?

I feel like a complete GT5 noob after spending time with remote races. :indiff:

1. The host does have to play the race. I only host from the browser when I'm not playing the PS3.

2. The car shown will always be in the race if you have enough drivers. It's in the pool of 16 cars for the race.

3. It does earn good XP that will level drivers

4. I would think but I've never looked.

Remote racing is mostly for the benefit of your friends. You can race up to 6 drivers of your online buddies and only one of your own. Get them to race your cars, you race theirs, everyone makes lots of money. I picked up over $500,000 in prize money today after about a weeks worth of racing.

I have been doing it for a little over a week now while at work and this is my take on remote races:

1. This is an excellent way to level up and earn credits while you are away from your PS3. Use a sub account to host so all the BOBs on your main account can benefit. Doing this I have earned for my main account a little over 700k a day (7 hours) for my 6 BOBs. The best part is since i am using my sub account to host it doesn't advance the UCD on my man account. So if you want something in the UCD and your low on credits, you can accumulate enough credits without the risk of UCD refresh.

2. Great answer by Urlik. Basically it shows what type/class of cars are entered in the race.

3. Your B-spec drivers will earn experience points and will also register in the win/loss ratio, so if you are a perfectionist and want your BOB to be undefeated this is not good for you. Unfortunately Remote Races have many variables that you cannot control, the biggest is what car your BOB receives.

4. Not sure I never watch since I'm normally at work:D.

So the next time your wife/gf wants you to go shopping, dont worry when you get home you will have a boat load of credits 👍

This is not true....

I have 24 shared drivers over 8 alt accounts...I run 16 of them every race...almost 3 races per hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week....average winngs $10k per driver per race....

You can do the math...and BTW, 6 Bobs per account can increase your credits way over 20M....as they do not cash in until you allow it....consider them the Bank of Bob.... I would urge people to visit the B-Spec forum and find out what you're missing....

Agreed, B-Remote racing is the new legit Grind. I am glad to have discovered it. I am using the earned cash to collect cars now. My B-spec score went from Lvl 5 (B-Spec GT5), to LVL 25 in less than 4 days. Just make sure to create new drivers, gather friends, send invites " use subject line " , and actually creating them, and watching your BOB do funny things in the race.

#1 , don't forget to "share your bob(s) online" in the Drivers Page. Otherwise, they will never be raced online. You will need to unshare them to use them if you still want to do that.

#2, get as many bobs (create new drivers) as quickly as possible, this will escalate your earnings, from 1 Bob (approx 50-80K) to 5 or 6 Bobs(max?) to approx 500K / day. all with no more than 16 to 20 dedicated B-spec remote friends. Trust me, this is spreading now like a seeding Torrent. You will laugh at the free money and even relax to viewing the race in real time.

I hope PD implements commands to the races. Great things will come to remote racing, I welcome them. GT5 is the best driving game ever, even if some Premium cars do drive worse than a $500 used Piece of ****

i havent cashed in my bobs in a couple days now... up to over 1.5million credits in each one.

get the widget. works wonders! :D

Its definatly worth doing if you have friends who use the remote racing feature.Ive been using it since it arrived into GT and my 6 drivers have averaged around 8 million Cr/Money each.

As for the back ground music, if it can be turned off, i havent found it.

Thanks for your answers. I'm currently collecting friends with a good B-Spec level hoping we can help each other level up. It makes more sense to me since I learned that you cannot host and enter all your drivers in the same race. Give a little and get much back if people appreciate and return the favour. Nice!

About the background music. I think it's simply the menu BGM which plays during the race because I have always had race BGM disabled.

I have a new question. I raced against a friend yesterday his driver stats were questionable. The driver had won 5 out of 5 races but the class level of that driver was 26. How is that possible? The driver name was K.Yamauchi. Some kind of rare super driver named after the creator of the series?

B-spec endurance... level up quick.

Once you get to endurance races you can throw a level 0 bob in a x2010 into 24 hr races and level up 26 levels in a couple races, so very normal. Plus they've increased the XP rewards since i've done this last so they should level up even faster.

I play on the ps3 I see who have used my bobs and i do my best to repay the favour, I select the grid of bobs then I wait to see if I got the VW Nardo and then I change the channel and watch tv :p

By the way, shameless plug for more remote race friends. I'm running a 24 hour A-spec race right now, but I'll be back to grinding during the week.

Get the widget and you'll never look back! Just let it run and the cash rolls in :)

In my opinion that tool ruins the purpose I just found in remote racing. I hope none of my GT5 friends use it and I never will. GT5 was never meant to run automated and it borders cheating (for your friends)! 👎

That is your opinion, and you're entitled to it... but the way I see it is that you have no less interaction with the drivers or the race using the widget than using the web page. The only difference is it automatically starts a new race for you. If the web page did a better job notifying me a race was complete and ready to start a new one, and if it was less intrusive to keep running while doing other things maybe I'd just do it that way.

I do watch my widget while it's running, it's a lot of fun looking at on of my many coworkers who also play right after a meeting ends and saying "my driver just passed you to take first place" and things like that.

It's also nice having a way to balance who gets picked for races, rather than always picking the people I know have drivers shared, potentially missing people who have added drivers since last time I looked. This also means I won't forgot about people that have PSN names starting with the letters U-Z ;)

Questionable, perhaps... but cheating? No. I gain money and experience no faster than I could sitting in front of the playstation, nor have I automated any part of the actual gameplay, other than minimizing downtime sitting in the menu waiting for me to press "go".

That's my opinion. 👍

You see that is the problem. Suddenly people start earning money because their friends installed a widget which selects shared drivers randomly and start races automatically. The human aspect of doing each other favours is gone and people who doesn't use this widget will eventually stop using remote race feature. Simply because they drive against select friends and don't get equally back because that friend happen to use a tool that tries to combine all of your friends. Worst of all is that this easy workaround affects your friends just as much as it affects yourself and in some cases even more. I don't want my drivers to earn money and XP because some friend installed an unofficial widget that makes sure they get on the track once in a while. Why not just enter a cheat code for money and XP then because it's requires just as much attention as this widget does? In other words the entire point of remote racing gets blurry.
