Just finished testing and it does almost completely remove whine until high speeds. Just lower the final gear to minimum and compensate with top speed adjustment . Now jump into your favourite beast and listen to her roar.

Not many tuners consider gear whine when they build a car. Especially since a lot of tunes use the tranny trick to get the best acceleration for a certain top speed out of a given car.

gear whine comes from racing transmissions because they use spur gears instead of helical gears to reduce heat and the mechanical horse power drain going to the wheels

Two very strange responses? To my knowledge it seems like the top speed box and final gear give the same outcome so removing the whine has nothing to do with how the transmission will be performing. Many people complain about the sound of gt so i thought perhaps someone would find this useful. This is gt not real life, the transmission is not simulated with different types of teeth and there is no frictional difference moving from helical to straight cut in the videogame, as far as i know :P

its not so much the top speed your looking for, its the acceleration

edit: also forgot to mention that even though you can set the racing transmission to have the same out put your not going to have the same gear radio's

The racing Fully Customisable Transmission make this gears whine. Principally in roof top view (my driving view) .... It's very anoying for sure.
Rear view have a better sound. The other option is to install a 5 or 6 speed close transmission , this is what i do when the car have a good engine sound that i want to hear and when the top speed i need is reached by this trans. Generally they perform very well.

Gear whine = cargasm. It's right there with belt/rotor supercharger whine, straight-cut cam gears, lopey cams (last two for the piston guys), turbo spool, BOVs/wastegates, ITB whistle, race fuel (like perfume) and anything else that comes by way of modification for performance. Pre-recorded soundtracks played through car audio system need not apply.

hilarious how fast things derail in here...the whine still exists at higher speeds, very loud at fast sections but if youre racing from the cockpit [fov trick <3] you will notice the whine is very quiet compared to the motor with min final gear during normal race speeds. If you have time to read these forums go ahead and try it before writing something that has nothing to do with the op. madcyclist the only thing you forgot is exhast pulses
