Renault Clio Maxi was unveiled at 1994 Paris Motor Show but it started competing just in 1995. It made a debut rallye Monte Carlo and won the 2L category, 7th overall by Jean Ragnotti. It also competed in french rally championship, finishing with a Runner-up's title by Philippe Bugalski. But it had one title: Bernard Munster won the Belgian Rally Championship with this car.
