I've been curious about this for a while, but what exactly is the required rep. for Ferrari, McLaren, & Red Bull to offer you a contract? I would normally think this is a preset order with Red Bull being the first available with Ferrari and then McLaren last.

But, in the Codies forum, I've read about other people having said that they got contract offers from Ferrari & McLaren first. In my game, Red Bull threw me an offer at 25-27 rep. (IIRC), and it seems the other 2 will won't offer me a contract until I'm 32+. I do know you can check once they've started taking an interest in you, but until then, the required rep. isn't shown to sign with them.

So, are they random, or is my game right in its order of team availability? And if so, what do I need to reach to start getting Ferrari/McLaren even interested in me?

To give an example of different forums:
On Gamespot, a member ran 2 saves. After running for Lotus for the 1st season & winning every race, he got an offer with Ferrari at 31 rep. for Save #1 & HRT at 35, as driver #1 for Save #2. At the end of his 2nd season, he hopped to McLaren from Ferrari & to Virgin from HRT. After the 3rd season, he had the option to now join Red Bull from McLaren.

On the Codies forum, a member posted that 31 rep. was required for Renault. However, I've had an offer from them after my 2nd season before I was at 31.

At RaceDepartment, someone listed Mercedes GP at 36, RBR at 35, & Ferrari at 34. Again, I've had an offer with Mercedes GP for a while & accepted RBR's offer before I hit 30. :odd:

You can get a contract offer if you select whichever team's driver as your rival midway through the season and then beat them.
For example, in my recent Virgin-Sauber-Ferrari playthrough, as a Sauber driver in my second season I selected Fernando Alonso as my rival at Hungray and proceeded to win the WDC at the end of the year (and so obviously beat 'nando). I was instantly offered a Ferrari 2nd driver contract despite only being rank/rep 20 (I think? I can't remember the exact number, but I know the best contract offer I had was Force India which I'm pretty sure is 20).

Other than that, I don't know what the requirements are as I've not yet got past my 3rd season on any playthrough. I have noticed though that as each season passes and I increase my rank/rep, the requirements seem to increase too. As I'm pretty sure I've had Toro Rosso requirements vary on two different playthroughs. It makes me think the requirements are based on the point in the season, for example, if you had a poor first season where you only went up a couple of ranks/rep, the requirements for Toro Rosso or Sauber would also increase slightly in the second season (as opposed to a great first season where they take interest immediately). Maybe also if you decline contract offers, the requirements change?

Also, I've only done 7-season playthroughs, perhaps the requirements are altered for the 3-season and 5-season careers?

Interesting. I suppose that's why I got offered a contract by RBR then, b/c I had chosen Webber has my rival (Hamilton was a bit of a risk as he was regularly finishing on the podium).

It'll be a post race interview question about who you consider to be your main rival 👍
