Are you kidding?
Say the same person has deserved rep twice.

Is there any way to avoid the "you must spread...." message and just give the earned rep points?

I am enquiring because Ash (Ferrari F2007) in the BatRacer thread and Greycap have both deserved it, but I can't give more.

As you're probably already well aware, the idea behind the limitations on reputation-giving are intended to prevent abuse of the system and to encourage people to spread rep around more evenly - however, I believe that if you cannot rep someone because you have recently repped that same person, then you can ask an Administrator to manually award reputation to that person on your behalf. In other words, you can't physically circumnavigate the rep limitations by yourself, but it can be done with admin approval on a case-by-case basis (presumably only every now and then though...)

I see, thanks Touring Mars.

Another quickie for anyone in the know- is the limit based on time (i.e. you must wait 2 weeks or similar) or to who you give it to (i.e must give to 6 other people before you can rep someone again)?

It's based on the amount of people you give it to. :)

Gotcha. I know restrictions need to be made, but it seems odd that someone could be denied well-earned rep for such a reason.

+Rep for a Swift and helpful reply to both.:sly:

A few good posts in a row does not qualify someone for the Quality Posts badge (not to say anything about Ash or Greycap's posts you are referring to). Keeping such a large spread insures that an individual receives ratings from a wide array of people.

There's been a few posts by both members that I felt deserved the rep, but when I was unable to, I didn't question it.

But the more they make rep-worthy posts, the more I feel that they should be getting it.

Is there a time when the 10 people limit thing resets? I don't give rep very often, and I find that I can't give rep to some people even though I hadn't gave them any for a couple of weeks or months.

I thought it was after 7 days (a full 168 hours) before it reset.

From the first sticky:

Rep answers

It is designed to avoid abuse. If you can't rep someone for a long time, that is because you haven't repped enough yet. The only time limitation is 10 reps per day.
