Replace G25 shifter with something else?

The G25 shifter kinda sucks. Anyone have wiring schematics for it so I can hook up say something like this:

The G25 shifter is removable and uses a 9pin serial connector. The Act Labs shifter has a 6pin connector that looks like a keyboard/svideo.

You can for PC for sure, just plug a USB shifter right into your USB hub and away you go.. but for PS3 I don't know for sure. I made my own six speed gated shifter with top left reverse like german cars for my car sim and it was wicked for PC games, but I had to switch to the G25 shifter for GT5. The G25 shifter has a motherboard under the buttons, and for the shifter they actually use two potentiometers instead of buttons... I doubt anything else would work by plugging it directly into the G25 shifter port.
