replacement ps2 came 2day...YAY!!!

yesssssss!!!!! my replacement ps2 came today. i replaced it because my old one was ****ed!!!!!! the laser that reads the disc was knackered so i ordered a new one from sony for £65-£70. havent tried it yet, but when i get it going im goin straight onto gt3 and practise my drifting and 1/4 mile racing.
 
here's a tip: the only way to tell if the laser is damaged is when your ps2 starts making a clicking noise. thats what happened to mine.

Sweet! I'll be expecting mine shortly. Lucky for me I only had to pay for shipping. Hopefully this time the refurbished one won't be just as screwed up as the one before it.
 
If you got the Vertical Stand, that will increase the wear of you ps2. i heard heard it from this guy that repair's ps2's.. so yeah
 
Is it true what space said a while ago? That if you have that disc problem, most likely because it's a release-day PS2, Sony will replace it for free?

How does having a vertical stand increase the wear of the PS2? If you mean by having the console vertically wears it out much sooner, then you are mistaken. Actually the PS2 lasts longer in the vertical position, the disc tray gears don't grind (witnessed multiple PS2s doing this), there is less chance of skipping, etc. The only con of the vertical position, is that's much easier for it fall.
