Hey guys, just a little quick question. When viewing your replays in gt5, you can switch view. So what i am wondering when you export it, what camera is it fixed to if even at all? an you even watch it on a computer? How do you actually export? Appreciation in advance.

If you export it to anything it won't play. It's encoded specifically for GT5 but I do believe you can transfer it to different PS3 systems but that is it.

You're essentially exporting instructions for GT5 to use to create the replay. Car(s) used, track, settings, etc etc. the export feature is there for when you'd like to send a friend the replay, but as mentioned, it'll only work within GT5.

The camera will be the default replay cameras, all replays default to that auto chaning camera view, even when the data is imported.
It will also be the car You were driving/own by default.
If you want to FORCE a camera view or change of driver to show of the action you need to record a video and upload that. if you want to show of more than 1 driver in the race you need split screen recording edited to show multi cameras
Example,
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bfkss4slhes0pts/o0gAj23tE4/video#f:4 camera replay version2.mp4
4 cameras 1 on each of the top 4 finishing drivers in the race...

Surely there are some technology wizards on here. I know about programming, not enough to actually do it but to know it must be possible. Surely someone could access the game programming code, then create a program to play the replays on a computer.

No chance LOL. This is a wind up right. :dopey:
Reverse engineering takes way longer than developing the game engine did for PD,
The GT5 game engine is their own work.
Its not the Unreal 3 engine that was ported to do car racing. :)

The OS on PS3 is not Windows, its a Sony Specific linux OS.
Even I know PowerPC CPU from IBM are No where near the same architecture of Intell or AMD CPU never mind the Multi different GPUs of PCs when the PS3 only has one specific GPU/Graphics chip used.
SCE spent a long time getting SDKs for PS3 out to developers this is what PD used as well to help to build their game engine... and they cost <$10K..

Get a Free PC from a scrap yard or a cheap capture card for your current PC.
