Seems like the plate is covered up in cloth. To prevent stalkers?

Though it is a good replica with a few flaws. That the low powered engine and some body panels are not shaped like real Bugatti or look totally different.

Based on a FWD Cougar, of all things...So you couldn't "just drop an LS2 in it".

That's pretty damn good for crafting the body parts on your own....

Though you'll get mixed reviews from the public... "Hey, that looks pretty damn spot on!" vs. "Phony! You're a big fat phony! a Phony!!!!!"

You would look pretty foolish when someone in the first decent car pulls away from you at the red lights.

Its a Cougar with who knows how much weight added...a drunk on a bicycle could pull on this thing.

I don't usually "get" replicas but that looks like a very good effort as they go. I wonder how much the tubular steel frame and fiberglass panels compare in weight to the original Cougar?

Also the choice of FF seems a little bizarre, and the power...how much can that be improved I wonder?

On a slightly separate note I saw pics elsewhere of the base car and am wondering if the Mercury Cougar is the same as the UK Ford Cougar? Looks very similar, I should go look it up I guess!

Well done that man. So, yeah, it isn't exactly a Bugatti but it looks better than most cars on the road. I read the story today and was outstanded that the guy is selling it for 54,000 pound when the base is a 1000 dollar Cougar and the mods cost a little over a few grand.
It's not badged and isn't going to win any races against a C90 any time soon but I'd definitely rather have that then a piece of junk that I could buy for the equivalent price (before mods).
I've seen MR2s in the UK with Ferrari mods, looking just like a F40. This is no different except that the young lad had initiative enough to do it on a budget and has made headlines to help him raise a few bucks when he comes to selling it.

Like they say (and this is not something I've ever quoted before but in the circumstance that folks will become green) ''Haters gonna hate''.

Wow, you people are missing the point entirely. This young man crafted this shape ON HIS OWN WITH NO HELP. He didn't exactly HAVE a Veyron to measure and compare with.

I applaud his fabricating talent. Who gives a **** what car it's based on and what engine it has under the bonnet. The goal was for him to create as close to the original LOOK as he could with what he had to work with.

You people need to stop being so critical and go out and try to do this on own own (and fail).

I think it looks pretty cool, even with those relatively small rims. Clever stuff 👍, the price on the other hand is the complete opposite of that...

I agree it's an awesome effort, I think people are wondering why he didn't use a more powerful non-FWD (and equally inexpensive) car for the base though.

By the way the argument "let's see you do better" is kinda facile. If I say a replica is bad it doesn't mean I think I can do better, just as if i watch a football game and say John Doe played badly tonight, it doesn't mean I think I am a better football player.

Fact is, if I DID have the means and inclination to make a replica, I would make sure it's a very good one, else it's arguably a little pointless. That is a very good one though :)

Judging by the 120,000 miles maybe this was his daily driver and he didn't have another car to even use?

Even the MR2 Ferrari kit cars are better than that.
Or the Fiero kits for that matter. Even better, the VW GT40 kits!

Jokes aside, the thing looks absolutely stunning... and I say that while wiping drool from my desk. Its too bad they didn't have any interior shots, though, which I'm sure are out there but I haven't looked yet. Sure, its essentially a stock Cougar inside (and under), but it would've been interesting to see if he does leather as good as the fibreglass. This kid will also undoubtedly have job offers rolling in. If he hasn't already. Overall, its not perfect, but for a "shed-car" I think its great.

Our dollar is doing good right now, so I must ask... what is $89000 in Canadian?

I don't care how close to a Bugatti it looks, I can't stand the thought of someone driving around believing they're fooling people into thinking that they're a multimillionare.

I applaud the craftsmanship for it being done by 1 person, but you have to be an utter tool to drive this thing around town, unless you're able to consistently think, "Haters gonna hate".

The asking price is riot. You can pick up Turnkey Diablos w/ the power to back 'em up for much less than that.

You can get a decent Diablo for less than $59k there? Cost a lot more here, but I get your point. But then, I often wonder why people lust after relatively run of the mill sportscars or spend thousands pimping their cars when they could get a classic Porsche or Ferrari or whatever for the same price. Tax and running costs play a part I guess.

I'm pretty sure that's a Lambo.

I guess it's cool, the body does look good for a kit car. I guess it takes all kinds in the car world, he had a good time building it so good for him, but the FWD part, eh.

This man should start building car statues. If he made an F40 replica, I'd build a replica tent beside it and live there for life.

Turnkey Diablos are replica Diablos. Most are rubbish, but there's a few companies that have nailed down the design.

You can get an early real Diablo for about £46k. Most are in the £80k range.

He should have at least built it off a K20 platform.

The 200 hp 2.5 liter Japanese V6 is a straight swap. And it sounds better than a K20, too.

They just love them Cougars in kit town, don't they?

I suppose it's because the roofline is close enough to play at being mid-engined...

Still... I'd rather do the R8 replica than the Bugatti... I've never really liked the Bugatti's detailing...
