Does anyone know what “Report this player” actually does?

On more than one occasion following an online race, I have seen dirty drivers disappear from the lobby with no good bye message just as though they had been kicked. Well it saved me the trouble, but could this be because multiple people in the lobby reported that person?

Usually if the host didn't kick said person, then the people in the lobby did by unanimous vote or they lagged out/shut off their PS3.

As for the report player...I don't know. I've used it a couple times, but yet to see any results.

Usually if there's no "good bye" message, it means they were disconnected from the server due to bad connection. If someone is kicked or leaves willingly, it shows their message. I'm usually in a room that involves constant kicking, (people messing around, inactivity etc.), and I've always seen their message.

As for the "report player" function, it works like a strike system. If a player gets X amount of strikes per month, they will be banned for X months.

**X=unknown, I've heard some people (that have been banned) say 3 strikes and some say 5, I'm not too sure. Length of ban also varies.

I host and have to kick someone just about every night. I've never seen that, just the soandso has left the room message.

I doubt that; I was supposedly reported 100+ times by one person trying to troll the lobby, and have yet to see any ill effects (2 months ago)

Key word, supposedly! How do you know? Just to clear things up, it needs to be from different users, not the same user over and over again. Only one per user gets registered. This is not only on Sony's end of things, but PD's also. So, not only for GT5, but all games that support the "report player" function, there are tons.

Why don't you try it, have 3-5 of your friends report you, and see what happens?

Yes, but don't do it in your main account if you are going to test this!

The report button never works, the only game ive seen it actually work is in little big planet to a certain extent .
Like my new colors XD

I can proudly say that I report nudity in Call of Duty playercards. Never have I seen anyone who actually gets banned because of it. :(

There's one guy, (whose PSN name and everything all refer to sex) whom I've reported like 800 times, and he still keeps coming back.

Well, I don't play CoD without my real life friends, though, so I don't play often, but, I don't think that the report this player functions ever do anything. :yuck: I'm just sick of seeing 🤬 with 🤬 dripping out in CoD playercards.

It's also possible that they have just deleted the default message which lets you enter and exit the room without any message, it will only say 'x has left the room' or something along those lines. I choose to do this because sometimes it gives me long loading times when I've left the message on, so I just say bye to anyone I've enjoyed racing against manually.

I'm sure the report button works, a while ago there was someone constantly putting rude messages in the chat box, crashing into everyone and the host wasn't there so we decided amongst ourselves to report the user and soon after they were gone.

I think the reports would've just been flagged as false/spam if that actually happened. I'd like to think the system knows when someone is just spamming the report button because they're butthurt. :p

Or they simply don't use those annoying auto advertisements.

Fixed for accuracy, specifically relevant to my recent change from "EN, FR, DE, ES linguist," "Good Race," and "Ciao!" to "Winter Stars Tuning Garage," "Win by Winter Stars" and "Check us out @ GTPlanet.net."
