There are some incredible tracks around the world that I'd really like to learn the names of individual corners for. Sometimes I get lucky on youtube and find a rundown. But does anyone know a website or a resource that actually gives you this information?

I'm thinking mostly of current F1 tracks, but also places like Mt Panorama

Wikipedia is a fairly good site to browse. When there is a corner name, the maps make mention of it. Most of the time, corners get names because there is a story attached. For example, the first corner at Bathurst is "Hell Corner", so named because when the circuit was first built, it was mostly used by motorcycles. There was a tree stump on the apex of the corner, and it was believed that any rider who hit it was going straight to hell for making such a basic mistake.

A lot of current F1 tracks' corner names are actually rather easy.

Turn 1
Turn 2
Turn 3
etc.

Otherwise Wikipedia and Google, as already mentioned.

Easy to remember, yes ... but it's hard to assign names for the sake of it when there is nothing behind the name. I'm reminded of the old Hockenheim, which named one of it's chicanes after Senna. It always stuck me as odd that someone felt the best way to remember a man who dedicated his life to going faster was to name a corner that was deliberately designed to slow cars down after him. On the other hand, if Istanbul's Turn 8 was named after Senna, then it would be much more befitting.

THAT'S the kind of info I'm looking for! Love it when there's a history to a particular corner. But thanks everyone, the trackpedia resource looks great I'll spend a bit of time in there.

The track that really springs to mind (hope I get this right) is Magny Cours: I think that's the track where each individual corner is named after racetracks from around the world? Gets a touch confusing!
