I was just playing endurance mode, which I hate by the way and wish GT5 had more regular races and NO stupid, boring, long, endurance races, I was 2 hours in half way done when I hit start to go to options and accidentally hit restart and BOOM just like that all 2 hours gone down the drain. Has this happened to anyone else? I think GT5 should ask "are you sure you want to restart" then if you hit ok it should, but not right away just for situations like mine.

Definitely.
Happened to me today at the Nurburgring 4 hour races, I was 1 hour in when I paused it to drink some water and then, I pressed restart :(

yep its happened to me too. luckily not in an endurance event but i did it a few times earlier on in the game which made me more cautious when pausing.

Arrgh, this has happened so many times. Needs an option.

Happened after 3 hours in the 9 hour race and 2 hours into a 4 hour race on two occasions.

Just way too easy to do.

When I pause the game for anything longer than three seconds, I go into the options and open up an option so that if a button is hit, my race won't be forfeit.

It's pretty much unanimous, a simple yes/no option for restarting should be put in.

If anyone has any objections, they better have a damn good reason for it.

If I have to leave the room, I just press the PS button.

I agree.

I have done it a few times so far and it irritated the life out of me (even though it was only during a short "standard" race). If it happened during an endurance I would scream.

Does this work? I though that when I press the PS button the car just rolls straight ahead on autopilot? I'm sure that's what happened... I have to pay more attention. :D

I meant that after pressing the start button, to avoid Resume race, restart race and exit race being selected, I press the PS button as a safety net.

The no confirmation on the restart is probably meant for the license test, where for me, I restarted many times at the slightest mistake at the start.

Umm, don't mean to be rude or anything - but had you looked around a bit this question would have been answered and this thread needn't have existed.

Look here:

'Accidental restart or exit race victim'

and here:

'Endurance Races NEED Restart Confirmation! '

and here:

'Endurance races NEED a 'confirm restart' option.'

Now I'm not one who normally complains about this stuff because sometimes the topics have died off - but considering these all talk about the same things and were started this month - I think we're catered for with the accidental restart stories.

Oh I see. Had me concerned there.

I think PD are just really lazy. Only 9 "high level" races and then you got the megaboring endurance crap. How hard would it have been to have like 20 or more races in extreme? Instead we get beautiful stuff like Tsukuba 9h and so on. I don't think there is anyone out there who thinks that this is even remotely reasonable.
I don't plan to race a single endurance in a-spec, have a life to live here. Don't have to worry about the restart button since Bob is the only guy here who will be racing for more than 1h on a single track.

It's funny that when you are putting new parts into your car you have to confirm every step till it becomes annoying but when you are 15h into a Le Mans race you can bow out on a single missclick:)

It's freaking hilarious, 18 confirmations about are you really really really sure you want to buy and fit this $250 air filter to your car, but nothing for bailing out of potentially a 24 hour race  Ah PD, the king of absolute NFI on interfaces.
