So here's a question I got: Which Alpine will you use, the Regular car or the Race mode?

Ill test both. But because im not in home yet im not sure if both counted in the trial. I have to check their specs.

Let me get that for you

Mini Clubman VGT

388 HP
1050 KG

Alpine VGT

443 HP
900 KG

Alpine VGT Race Mode

443 HP
900 KG

Lexus LF-LC GT VGT

612 HP
1075 KG

While there is a 100 KG difference, I still think the Lexus will be the winner. Mini won't even come close and then there is the combined firepower that is the turbos AND the Hybrid System.

First all, all aids are off except abs and the grip is set to real. Tires is Racing Hards, including the Alpine VGT "Standard". Im using the DS3 and probably not my best lap especially considering it done for averaging 4 laps per car quickly.

The results are in...

4th. The MINI VGT:

1:13.679

It has the lowest HP and not the lightest. So it justified.

3rd. Alpine VGT "Race Mode"

What happen when you put more drag to the already good handling car without even tuning the engine and the weight? Well its got a slightly better corners speed but the straight speed suffers much bigger.

2. Alpine VGT "Standard"

Faster than the Race Mode. Compared to the Lexus its light so it has the advantage on cornering. Altough the lower HP means the straight speed is lower.

1st. Lexus LF-LC VGT

1:05.503

The winner. 170!!! more HP than the Alpine. Quite huge even if its heavier. Much larger straight speed but at the corner it suffers.

Conclusion:

GTP LOSE..... by a fraction of second.
To be honest. Im kinda interested on how the Race Vesion of Alpine is lost by the Standard. The aero unnecessarily drags the car. Whether both Standard Alpine and Lexus is competitive is up to debate. MINI still way too lost by the way.

According to your times, the Mini VGT is only 1.3 seconds faster than the stock KTM X-Bow R that I tested on Comfort Soft tires.
Like i said, its not my best lap especially for the DS3.

Also, racing cars like the MINI VGT has a much bigger aero and, based on that Race Mode time and my experience on that car, the aero unnecessarily drags the car. Also the fact that the XBow has only 30 HP lower but much, much lighter.

Not surprising at all really, after all a stock BMW M5 would thrash a GT3 race car around SSR7. For tracks with large full-throttle sections like Midfield Raceway it's all about minimising drag and increasing power.

I'll be running this one myself later too as part of my VGT testing program, I'll be leaving the stock tyres on all cars though. Will be interesting to see the difference.

Its ok though if anyone want to post their time here since the time and poll from me is now closed.

I'm betting it won't even come close, it'll be the Lexus by far. It'll have GT3 Horsepower AND better balance through the corners.

Its like I'm psychic or something. :sly:

Granted the gap between the Lexus and the regular Alpine is much closer then I was expecting. I'm actually shocked it was the one that made it close and not the Race Mode. Mini of course, don't even know why it was added as it had no chance.

The race version of the Alpine can be tuned, while you can't adjust anything on the road version. Maybe with a good setup, the race car could beat the road version.

So decided to try these for myself, all stock (apart from the Road version being fitted with Racing hards just to keep it fair):

Lexus LF-LC GT Vision Gran Turismo
: 1:05.463

Alpine Vision Gran Turismo Race Mode: 1:07.811

Alpine Vision Gran Turismo: 1:07.992

Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo: 1:14.527

So.. according to my standard testing method* I got the following results, the biggest thing to note is that I kept the Alpine on it's stock tyres.

Lexus LF-LC GT:- 1:04.000
Alpine [R] VGT:- 1:05.900 +1.900 s
Alpine VGT:- 1:07.784 +1.884 s
Mini Clubman:- 1:12.366 +4.582 s

* 10 Laps, eclectic best lap from MoTec, MT, Totally Stock (no tune, oil change or tyres), ABS1 all others off, T500RS.

A great way to compare them is this, so ty. Eclectic lap of 10 with a nice wheel setup and at stock tires is great. Just what I expected by the way.
