Hey everyone, I'm Kris and the last time I had a console and raced Gran Turismo was when I owned a Ps2. I've been into the PC and sim racing, mostly iRacing. So for xmass my family is getting me a PS4. I plan to pick up a copy of GT6, and a few other racing titles. Because I'm big into the simulator side of racing titles, I just cannot see myself racing without a wheel, pedal, shifter setup. So my question is: What wheel works with the PS4 and Gran Turismo? The wheel must have a clutch, and a H-Pattern shifter. (Heel and toe is a must).
Thanks!
Kris
As Thomas has said GT6 is a PS3 title. You could pick up a PS3 cheap, but having got a PS4 you will probably want to stick with next generation graphics. GT6 has a clutch model which does not allow power shifting (you have to be fully off the throttle) and any missed shifts put you in neutral. It is much slower to drive using the H pattern shifter so you will not use it for racing online - just arcade mode or career mode.
Gran Turismo Sport is coming to the PS4 sometime in the Spring, but as a beta / free download. I don't think a date for release of the complete game has been announced, but Autumn / Winter 2016 is a fair guess.
You will be able to play Project Cars on the PS4 and I understand that Asetto Corsa is coming to PS4 during 2016, but I don't know the date. There are sections of this site dedicated to those titles from which you can get full information.
The Logitech G27 has been repackaged as the G29, but it now comes without a shifter - you have to buy a Logitech Driving Force Shifter seperately.
Thrustmaster produce the T150 and T300RS. Both come without a shifter, but are compatible with the TH8A shifter - this is a high quality shifter (better than the equivalent Logitech product), but some people find the shifter too long for fast changes (you can buy custom short shifters). You can use the TH8A as a sequential shifter, but it takes a while to convert over to that mode so some people buy two.
The T150 is a budget wheel, but good for the money. The T300RS has a more advanced motor and swappable wheel rims - F1 style rim, Ferrari road car rim etc.
You will be able to watch reviews as Thomas has suggested on Inside Sim Racing. Don't forget to budget for a good quality wheelstand such as Wheelstand Pro or a good quality rig. You also might want to increase the immersion by adding tactile transducers.
