Nice review and good tips on how to assemble the hub. Just idea though about the shifter position. If you switched the paddles to the opposite side it would of brought them closer to the rim, no? It looks like the finished side of the paddles are facing the wheel base instead of you. Its also nice though that the whole shifter assembly can be moved.

Well, I like the finished side to be where my finger will be making contact with the paddle during shifts. Many times when I shift my finger tip will hit different places on the paddle surface, like when I have the wheel turned. Nice to have all that smooth area available. There isn't much room for your finger tip between the bracket and the edge of the paddle mounted the other way. IMHO

I actually, by mistake, mounted the shifters wrong.

It only took me one trial shift without even mouting the rim to the CSW to discover my mistake.

I removed the spacers and replaced them with small M5 nuts which was the perfect shifter distance for me
