I haven't come across another car that wants to kill its driver as much as this one. With a weight of 1068 kg or 2355 lbs and powered by a massive 7.0-liter V8 pumping out over 480 hp and ft-lbs, it possesses almost too much power, especially for a convertible which lacks structural rigidity. Shelby/AC Cars only produced 256 of this exact model, with another 88 cars built specifically for competition racing and testing.
So enough of the history. How does it perform? If you have skills and patience, then the answer is "admirably." It hits a top speed of 155 mph and does so quicker than any production car ever made, or maybe it just feels like it does. It can and WILL spin its Sport Hard tires through all 4 gears if you're careless with your right foot. On top of all that, it has a bad case of snap oversteer, but again only if your right foot can't stay off the floor coming out of the corners.
With a fastest time at Suzuka Circuit of 2:16.078 it can meet or beat a brand new SRT Viper GTS and Ford Shelby GT500.
Very skillful wheel drivers will be able to manage a consistent 2:15 if they're lucky.
Please enjoy the cinematic replay as well as the replay from inside the cockpit of this manic beast from the 1960's.
