So, been kind of Bleh when it comes too GT6 lately.. was browsing the dealership and came across RUF. Realizing I've never driven one before, I decided too give the RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" '87 a whirl around Apricot Hill. No tuning, or driving aids. Was the most fun I've had playing GT6 since I purchased the game.

It was like trying to control a bright yellow hurricane with a small wheel. The way it wants too go all directions at once was a blast. Taking a corner, start to get immense under steer and Bang, insane over steer. Like the car has a mind of its own.

Anyhoo if your in the GT6 dulldrums also, give the "Yellow Bird" a shot with All of the driving aids off. See how fast you can do a lap on your favorite course.. Its hard as hell, but fairly rewarding once you start shaving seconds off your time.

As for my General Question. What do you guys think of the "Yellow Bird"? Whats your fastest time on your favorite track? I managed a 1:39 on apricot after about 10 warm up laps trying to get the hang of that yellow beasty.

I'll dust off the 0 mile unit in my garage and give it a whirl (literally).

The better car is the Ruf RGT as it is a little more civilised. That was, up until the last official update where PD destroyed it's handling characteristics :-(

Anyway, the Yellow Bird is fun and my regular crew and I only drive these things on Sport Hard so even more fun ;-)

BTW you don't say what tyres you were using.

Also these are some of the few cars that actually have an OK engine sound. Not brilliant but Ok.

Zero tuning, I Purchased the car, got into it. and went straight too Apricot hill.. I think the reason i really enjoy this car is that it Isn't civilized. It wants too do what it wants too do lol.

LOL...

Cannot let off the gas too much in a curve...

Just ask Paul Walker and his friend. All these high power Porches are different to drive than most.

You are right about high power Porsches however the CGT that Paul Walker was in and the CTR are so far apart. RR vs MR. No computerized driving aids vs many driving aids. The problem with the CGT is the clutch and tires and the fact that it was meant to be a race car from the start. Porsche has got a lot of well deserved flak from the CGT's safety record. I was offered a build slot on a CGT when it was new. If I would have purchased one I probably would have been one of the statistics based on how I drove back then. The CGT is feared and respected today. Way to many good drivers have lost their lives in this car..

ya, tuned porsches

RUF's aren't tuned Porsches. They are making their own Vehicles just like any other companies and they use only a part (mostly) of Porsche Body parts.

The Yellowbird was already beasty at GT5, can't remeber it's handling on previous parts, but think it was always kinda beast.
Didn't gave it a shot at GT6, will do later or tomorrow.

Remebering with some friends back in GT5 we did an endurance-cup-like run with these, tuning allowed on sporty mediums if I remember right - but still was hard as hell and was literaly hard work..

They make their own cars on porsche chassis

What is a RUF, but a souped up Porche anyway?

The company was founded in 1939 in Pfaffenhausen, Germany as "Auto Ruf" by Alois Ruf Sr. as a service garage and was eventually expanded to include a full-service gas station in 1949. Ruf began experimenting with vehicle designs of his own in the late 1940s, and in 1955 designed and built a tour bus, which he marketed around Germany. The positive response it received led to Ruf expanding his business again by starting his own separately owned bus company.
Alois Sr.'s involvement in the car industry had a distinct effect on his son, Alois Ruf Jr., who became a sports car enthusiast and in 1960 began servicing and restoring Porsche automobiles out of his father's garage. In 1974 when Alois Sr. died, 24 year-old Alois Jr. took control of the business and focused on his passion: Porsche vehicles, and especially the 911. A year later in 1975, the first Ruf-enhanced Porsche came to life.
Ruf debuted their first complete model in 1977, a tuned version of Porsche's 930 with a stroked 3.3 litre motor. This was followed in 1978 by Ruf's first complete non-turbo Porsche, the 911 SCR. It was a naturally aspirated 911 with a stroked 3.2 litre motor producing 217 horsepower. Numerous customer orders were placed for this vehicle.
In the years since, the company has made a major mark on the automotive world by producing exceptionally powerful and exclusive Porsche-based vehicles including the 1987 CTR, which set the record as the world's fastest production car at the time of its release and the later CTR2 which was again recognised as one of the fastest road-legal vehicles available anywhere in the world. [1]
In April 2007, Ruf released the new CTR3 to celebrate the company's new plant in Bahrain and as a 20th anniversary celebration of the original CTR. In 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Ruf also showcased the RGT-8, the first production V8-powered 911 in the history.
In February 2013, Genii Capital, owner of Lotus F1 Team, acquired Ruf. Gerard Lopez has been appointed non-executive chairman of the board.
