Hey guys,

I'm a fairly experienced racer and have always wanted to get rFactor. I have seen that rFactor 2 is in progress and as it is my birthday soon, I want to get one of the two. Now the question is, should I get the original rFactor (the more aged, but more built up and worked on sim) or rFactor2 (the less built up, less finished sim)?

I'm thinking rFactor 1 is the better choice, but what is your opinion?

rF2 is the future. It drives better than rF1, you get no floaty-feeling, you are very connected to the road with rF2. Plus weather, flat spotting, better graphics. There is not much content for rF2 right now but more is coming all the time.

rF1: 2005
rF2: 2013

Pointless comparison really. There is still no rF2, all we have is a Beta, once you understand and accept that you won't compare them any more and start to appreciate rF2 for what is. So sorry, not gonna vote on your poll.

rFacor 1 can be super amazing or super crap, depends on the mod you install and your understanding of FFB configuration. You also need to understand and improve AI settings because default settings are not very good. rFactor 1 is more a development tool than a game. You can do almost everything but you need to know how.

rF 1 runs much smoother on a PC you can get high fps and lots of cars on track this come handy in endurance races.

It has tons and tons of stuff available. Blancpain Endurance Series is awesome with the last GT3 models like Mercedes SLS, McLaren MP412C, Ferrari 458, BMW Z4, etc.

rF 2 is the future yes. You can play with ISI original content and some beta here and there. The product is not finished therefore 90% of modders are waiting. Question is how long it will take.

I can't vote on this as I don't have rF2 currently to compare the two. But in any case, I have to agree with Jav above.

Logic dictates that when rF2 is completed it should be better than rF1 as it will be 8 years newer. Though some on here might argue GT5 vs GT4 disproves that theory

At the moment, you have a game with 8 years of content versus a beta with a few months of content effectively. Maybe you need to run this poll in 2021 when rF2 is 8 years old as then you would be comparing like with like.

My laptop will likely not run rF2 very well anyway, so my choice is easy.

But if you have a decent machine, maybe the best answer is, why not try both 💡 From what I've seen both are great games and both will prove to be great value for money (what with all the mods and everything) so you are hardly going to lose out.

Just my 2 pence worth...
