Hey all, after getting myself a decent gaming rig i got a copy of rfactor and with my T500RS it is out of this world :)
However, really confused with the whole online scenario? It will not let me host a game, won't let me add friends; and also won't let me join racecraft (which i assume you have to do to be able to race online).
Have disabled it in my AVGresident shield and can play all other games online so not sure what else to try....
Any help much appreciated

Adding friends had never worked properly as far as I'm aware, and Racecast is only really for league racing as it broadcasts live race results over the internet.

As for hosting a race, you need to forward ports UDP 34297, UDP 34397 and TCP 34447 in your router. :)

Thanks Sharky, tried the port forwarding but still won't work :ouch:
When I test the 'hosting' it says it cannot determine router status or something like that (and is doing the same thing for a friend who has just got the game too). We have both tried creating a room for the other to join and neither of us can see each others rooms.
Any other help out there would be much appreciated, love the game but gutted I can't get to race online.

The hosting test doesn't work either (for me at least) ;) Can you see other games? If not, you probably have your search type set to LAN - change it to internet in the multiplayer settings and you should be away laughing; if you can see other games, then use a tool like Portforward.com's port checker to make sure the rFactor ports are actually open. I've had that issue many times where I forward the ports in my router but they're not actually opened.

Yes, I can see other lobby's open so guess it probably is still a port forwarding issue. Will try the port checker you linked and let you know how I get on. Thanks for your help mate
