RGB Advice

Before you say anytihng... I know! RGB is a waste of money!

I'm thinking of upgrading my case to something a bit bigger and with RGB. My mobo is quite old so doesn't support it which means I'll have to get some kind of controller.

My question is, has anyone gone this route before? Each manufacturer (Corsair, Thermaltake, etc) offer products and controllers but I'm worried about getting tied in to one and then finding that I want an RGB product from another. Is there any cross compatibility? (I dont think there is).

What would you guys reccomend?

Controllers are the only way to go
Either stand alone add ons or cases with ones built in.
