So I finally want to start messing with PC racers with an old PC. I know absolutely nothing about PC's and PC gaming in general. Only games I had ions ago was Nascar and NFS2SE.

I have an old computer. Windows XP Home Edition 2002. Intel Pentium 4cpu 2.80ghz 2.79ghz 768mb of ram. This is what it says on 'system information'. I do not know how to read those numbers. What ever it is I am sure my PC is all basic, nothing special.

I just ordered Richard Burns Rally a few hours ago. It should be able to handle it right (I know it does say made for XP)? I am planning to use the original Driving Force and DFGT (I own both). They should work but is it plug and play and nothing else besides some calibration and button mapping? I plugged in the Driving Force and it played fine with NFS2, but unfortunately no force feedback. Are special drivers needed for its full potential? Or the regular hardware detection is okay?

Also about the game, how do I get updates or other goodies? Recommended sights to go to? Is it needed at all? Main concern is getting the wheel and game to play well.

I am not trying to be all hardcore. Never played RBR but I hear a lot of great things about it. The vids on youtube looks serious and intense! I got it off Amazon for $10 with shipping from the UK. I don't have money for serious equipment right now or soon =(

Thanks for all the help you guys can provide!

Your pc should be able to handle it. As for the no force feedback, if i have read it right you need to get the logitech drivers from there website to get the wheel to work with feedback. When installing the game my advice is to install it to your own folder and not the defaults ones (will allow you to make adjustments to the files). This thread here should answer questions on installing the mods etc. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=178743

Its a hard game best to start off with damage to zero and take it easy.

Thank you sir! You just gave me a boatload of information! So much to read and learn, which is not a bad thing.

I couldn't find the search button last night. Now I see it!

Cheers
