One hit wonder from the 1980s, I don't think he made it past the US. Remember MC Hammer's "U can't touch this?" Well the music he's using is Rick James'.

Guess cocaine IS a hell of a drug.
 
Smoking crack for twenty years will do some damage. I loved his song when I was a kid. but that was the only one. I guess no more Rick James jokes on the Dave Chappelle show.
 
He also wrote and played bass on Eddie Murphy's - yes, that Eddie Murphy - one hit, "My Girl Wants (To Party All The Time)", which was just about as bad as you'd imagin it would be.

Think of Rick James as James Brown without the talent and soul and class (and that last one is saying something, let me tell you).
 
I just remembered he did an episode of The A-Team, and it was about saying no to drugs. :lol:

Sublime Boob comes of as a personal attack on a fellow member, to me at least. It's okay to deform a member's name as a funny joke (Jspec, anyone?) but not as a manner of insult.

I stand by my point.
 
OK i get it but seriously i dont think he will be crushed mentally or physically by my comment. We are all just fooling around.
 
I don't know much about him, but I love the song "Ghetto Life" that he did. I discovered it through the Grand Theft Auto soundtrack (Vice City, Vol. 6: Fever 105). Great bass line.
 
Strange, on last night's Conan O'Brien, they were making jokes about Rick James breaking Jaime Foxx's bed. From 0-Bad Taste in 12-ish hours.

It's too bad that Rick James died now because all the 14-year-olds who only know him from Chappelle's (unbelievably stupid) line will be going around saying "I'm Rick James *****" for the next few weeks, boring everyone but themselves. In fact, they've already done it how many times in this very thread?

I never really knew who rick james was in the first place. I'll have to sample some of his music
