Hi GT racers out there,,,

Has any word come up concerning rim manufacturers in GT4?

I hope this feature is still intact for the forth part of the series,,,

And how about the dyno test, is it in the game, any rumors?

I think it would be cool to do dyno tests after you install performance part,,
And also if any one remembers the sport conversion in GT2, where you install race kits on your car?

i think i'v been waiting too long,,,

The rims will return in GT4 if I'm not mistaken.
Never heard anything about a dyno so, probably not.
I've heard something that there will be race mods at least on some cars.

Nothing on wheel manufacturers. I suppose the same as GT3. I think GT3 had most of the major manufacturers.

Why would you need a dyno test? The game tells you the HP automatically when you upgrade parts.

You mean Race Modification. It would be nice to see it in GT4, but no information exists about it being in.

Note: Race Modification does not equal body kits. You want riced out body kits? Go play NFS:U

you got what i mean Viper Zero,,

i'm talking about the race modification that was in GT2,,

NFS:U is a crapy game, very short, no depth, you would mod the car to its teeth and they would catch up on you,, a funny thing is when you take all the mod off (and you are in the last races) and you would still win the race (more esaely in fact)

but it was cool to add the race modification in GT2

but using a dyno is much cooler to check your HP on the wheels,,,

Especially if you get the chance to change the fuel air mixture and the turbo pressure level,,,

This is why it might have dyno test, so the game doesnt tell you automatically. Plus you could change your gearing depending on what RPM your max Hp & Torque are. (I am all for dyno's)

Don't get me wrong, dynos would be nice, but I don't see the worth of them in a non-real world application.

i know Viper Zero

:)

its just that they would be great as VIPERGTSR01 said you would be able to find the exact peak of the HP an turqe,,,

and all your setting won't be just wylde shots, trying to guess the best shift point,,,

There was talk on another thread, that players might have to run there car on a dyno to find out what the new bhp is after any new performance mods.

Nice idea, but it might become a pain having to do it every time.

Cheers

Jamie

Its either a dyno or an unlimited straight road,,,

But seriously, first on the wish list is:
1- They allow you to tweak the fuel air mixture
2- The allow you to change boost pressure
3- Valve timing changes
4- Did I mention fuel air mixture?

:odd:

Uh, this may be a n00b question that I should probably search for, but what are dyno's? I honestly don't know... Slap me off the search engine if it's been done before.

It is probably many people at gtplanet that can explains this better than me, and correct me I am wrong. The dyno is a kind of machine where your car goes on, and it works like a treadmill... Your car goes on it, and then you can measure the Horsepower and much more by pushing the engine. Well I have to say that this wasn't a super description. And anyone that has a better description than me, please post them. :D

hi Eagle

A dyno is a machine you strap the car to, then you rev the engine in gear to find exactly where the peak HP and torque of the engine..

If you haven’t seen one check the net,,,

I’ve attached a picture of one,, check it out

A Dyno doesnt have to be only what you strap your car to, You also have engine dynos that bolts up to the engine. They may also show Air/fuel mixture and other parameters so you can tune your car how you want.

I would love to be able to buy fully programable ECU's like Motec (in GT4) and map them on a dyno (a dream of mine), but this will never happen.

You could also see where the power band really comes in and out. in relation to your tuning tweeks.

I'd just like to point out that there is no such thing as a race car modification, real race cars have bodykits of entirely new bodies altogether. The difference between the kits in NFS:U and a race cars kit is that a race cars kit is designed with performance in mind, a kit like in NFS:U is made to look good or supposed to look good.

Well If anyone has been paying attention there is a selection called "Power and Speed" If anything this will tell us how much power a car makes without it being automatic.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/t-43440.html

And NFS U sux so bad other developers want to copy it including the new Fortza or whatever its called.

Maybe we will get a sort of estimate HP for the car's spec menu after upgrades, but you will need to go to GT4's dyno to get an accurate HP rating.

That won''t work if GT4 brings back the Bhp limits which I would prefer over a dyno. Unless if you left your cars Bhp as an estimate and the estimate was higher than the real Bhp but the estimate was below a series limit and the real Bhp was higher, you still couldn't enter the series.

Another nice little touch I think would be being able to buy the fuel you want to race with. So you could start off with basic street fuel, and work your way up to F1 grade fuel, of course with increasing prices.
Another quick thing I'd like, is a better pause options list. The continue or exit option is getting abit dated.

You should be able to access some of the games options from the pause like controll and sound options.

If they did have the dyno and you could turn up your boost level, wouldn't the have to add the ability of ur car engine breaking? Otherwise people would juice it up all the way.

Not if the cups had Bhp limits. Also you ask why anyone would ever use anything but the stage 4 turbo in GT3.

Thanks for the explanations guys, I had in fact seen a dyno before, I just didn't know that's what it was called and hence what you were referring too.

I like the idea of being able to buy better fuel, that sounds quite cool. The question is, do we get some of the old additives they used in the 60's for gigantic horsepower boosts, things so corrosive the engine had to be cleaned with regular petrol to prevent damage after the race? ;) Different tyre manufacturers would be a cool thing too.

I think being able to buy different fuels and playing with mixtures is going overboard a bit at this stage. There are a lot more things that need attention first with the GT series like car damage and reliability issues. The major difference with racing fuels is the octane rating. Although using a higher octane rating doesn't give more horsepower, using a fuel with insufficient octane rating will drop the horsepower off and make the motor more prone to detonation. The advantage in a higher octane rating is that you can run a higher compression ratio, so if GT4 allows you to get so involved in the re-building of an engine that you can change compression ratios and if reliability is introduced in GT4 then different grades of fuel and adjusting mixtures would be a must.

This isn't always true. The V8 Supercars must use the same panels the road cars use which come from the Ford or Holden factories. The front and rear spoilers are then bolted to mounting points and the rear wing is bolted to the boot.
When the Nations Cup series changed from production car specs to N-GT ish specs, most of the cars had the standard panels and they were adapted to allow for spoilers and wings.

In GT1 you could tone down the boost level on the turbo and adjust the power accordingly. I'd like that on GT4, it wasn't on GT3.

Also, how about the ability to adjust the sports ECU (ROM) to change how smooth the power is.

Obviously, nothing much has been confirmed or denied though.
