I saw it on the news this morning as I was getting ready to leave. Just for him, I heard many of his songs (mp3s ftw) during the drive to work.

The world is gonna miss him.....a legend that would be irreplaceable... :(
 
There aren't many people who can send a shiver down my spine, but he used to be able to. It's a shame I never got to see him live, but his power will live on through his recordings.
 
Nice clip, TM. He did "O Sole Mio" better than anybody I've heard.

This is a faster version of the song he did back in '91, which sounds amazing. The man had a gift.

Opera legend Pavarotti dies at 71

Pavarotti was diagnosed with cancer in 2006
World renowned tenor Luciano Pavarotti has died at his home in the northern Italian city of Modena. The singer, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, was 71.

His charismatic performances - particularly alongside fellow tenors Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras - helped bring a new audience to opera.

Pavarotti had cancer surgery in July 2006 in New York, five months after his last performance. He had not made any public appearances since then.

Now I don't profess to be a fan of opera music, but I have seen his performances on TV, and he really did have a fantastic voice.

R.I.P Pavarotti, you will be missed but never forgotten with such work to keep entertaining for years to come!
 
RIP Luciano, did very well to stay ahead of the cancer as long as he did and it's a big loss to his family and fans, and indeed music.
 
A true Italian icon, he's one of the few Italians that are known in almost any part of the world. His love for "Il Bel Canto" was bigger than anyone else's, and he truly showed it in every performance.
