What an insane crash. I would post the video but the one I found has an age requirement. Not sure how the mods feel about posting videos of someones death in action.

RIP Dan Weldon. You will be missed.

I was watching this race and it is a horrifying accident. I personally would not post it knowing now what the ultimate outcome was.

I primarily started watching Indy Racing because of Dan Wheldons triumphant championship success (as a fellow Brit) and have followed it since then. I am still pretty shocked that this has happened, very sad day for motorsport.

R.I.P Dan, thanks for getting me into Indy and enjoy racing with the greats in the sky.

Wow, that's really sad. Never heard of the person, but I'm still going to pay my respects. RIP, Motorsports has lost another one of it's greats.

Very sad indeed, I tuned in just before the accident happened, I wish I forgot it was on at all. I'll be fine if I never see an accident in a race ever again.

R.I.P.:(

That was a terrible crash, RIP Mr. Dan Wheldon. You never, ever want that to happen to a driver, or any one for that matter. A sad day.

Having been a friend of Mark Dismore, and still am, i've met Dan many many times. I was woken up this morning (I race in Japan now) by my parents calling me. At first I thought she was kidding, and that this was some sick joke. But then I started checking the news and it slowly became a reality. Can't even begin to describe the emotions that went through me then, and still are going through me. The world lost one hell of a guy today, and just happened to be a good racer as well.

my facebook status:

"The world can be a cruel place sometimes. Actually, a lot of times. Why they would make the greatest sport on the planet, also one of the most dangerous is beyond me. And it has bitten yet again today. There really isn't a way to describe Dan. He's just one of those guys that nobody hated, everyone loved, and was one hell of a race car driver. He will go down in my list of greats to leave this world far far too early. A great inspiration to me, and in my opinion is going on the same level as Senna. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family, wife, and everyone who is hurting on this day. R.I.P."

I don't know why I left my TV on because I didn't even have any intention to watch the race that night. However, I then heard somebody said ''Back ache'' and then I woke up seeing the race being red flagged. Thought it was fine though. So I went back to sleep but couldn't. I watch the TV again and heard the announcement of his death. As I was about to go to school, they were about to start the 5 laps of honor...

The crash was terrible, it's like I throw a bucket of Hot Wheels cars into a corner. His car suffered the most in the accident but he wasn't at fault at all. Shame we lost a great driver, personality and character in the paddock.

As I arrived to school, it was all gloomy and I honestly cried while sitting at the back of the hall. I think the last time I felt really bad was back in 2009 when Henry Surtees lost his life in an unfortunate incident.

My prayer and thoughts goes to him, his family, friends and anybody else who knows and have a close relationship with him. Rest In Peace Dan Wheldon.

I never watched Indy for a long time.

But then a news item appeared on TV and it was about this crash. I was like "who the hell crashed?" And then after a while, I realized it was Dan Wheldon, helplessly rolling amidst the flames in the air. Such a great loss.

Rest In Peace, we hope you get to heaven. 👍

Man, what a shock this was. Seeing an Indy 500 winner twice dying oh so suddenly is absolutely terrible.

RIP to you very much Dan...you'll be missed. :(

I was about to watch the video of the crash when I exited my browser, because I couldn't bare to watch it. I didn't really watch the IZOD Indy Racing League much but when I did, and Wheldon finished, he always displayed a good demeanor, regardless of whether he finished first or twentieth. Its been a tough day...
