OK, on Gran Turismo 3, Feeder done a special version of Just a Day, which is not available anywhere else, only on the game. Is there anyway i can rip the song from the game? I know someone recorded it with their mic once, but it was really bad quality. Just want to know if there is anyway to get it like it is in the game, with CD quality.

Look for the soundtrack to the game, I know they are out there.

Theres only an America Soundtrack  💡 💡 💡 💡 💡 💡 (cries)

I'm so desperate for a decent verion of that song. I though there might be a program for ripping music from games, unless its stored in a file format only Readable by PS2.

The way i do it is to plug the phono leads from the ps2 into my hifi instead of into my tv, play the track, and hit record on my hifi. Tada! Song on minidisk or tape!

you could plug your a/v wires into a stereo with a tape deck, then record the song..take a tapedeck with a wire that can go into your computer, hit play and record with audio grabber..

if I were extremely bored and had time I'd do it for you...but I'm not sure if I still have the cable to go to the computer..

I've found a pretty good way this weekend (since it's been bugging me for... a very long time). You just need a line encoder line (it looks like a cord with two male headphone leads on the end except one is smaller) and you need the encoder itself. Since i happened to own a mp3 encoder (courtesy of my mp3 player) i can simply hook it up to straight from the tv output lines into the mp3 encoder.

So if you have one, this is a great way of getting high quality digitized music.

Yearh well - That would be a way to get digitized, then analoged, then re-digitized quality music...

You'll lose a lot of sound information decoding and encoding over again like that.

What I'd do would be to find a video card for your computer that has an S-video cable INPUT. I emphasis input because I have one with an output only which is no help. This will put the video on your computer, too, but you'll need a way to record it which may cost money. What I'd do to save money is look up an open-source program for recording (try slashdot.org or some such site). Then record the video and sound and extract the sound to ogg vorbis format which is the only free encoded format I know of plus it sounds a lot better than mp3 or aac in my opinion--and trust me I listen to my music pretty loud sometimes. lol

I have the version of GT3 that was packaged with the early PS2s released in the US. On the back of the manual is an offer for a gt3 hat, jacket, satchel/messenger bag, and the soundtrack. Of course, being that I don't have a credit card (for good reason) I haven't ordered any of the said apparel yet. Unfortunately I doubt the offer is still around. Anyone know if it is?

Oh yeah, and apparently the PS2 is now illegal. Someone sued Sony. I think you can find it on Reuters somewhere.

OT - It's not the PS2 - It's the DS2 that's the problem.. It's Immersion that says they own the right to use small motors to create rumble in a joystick or similar gadget...

Really? I've seen PS2s pulled off of the shelves. Are they gonna repackage it without the dual shock controller? If so that's kinda dumb; there are other 3rd party controllers using the same rumble mechanisms from what I understand.

Still OT : CNN Linkage...

I should probably note that the store pulling it from the shelves was the local Base Exchange/BX. I often wonder at their reliability but there's no sales taxes there since it is on base. It saves a LOT of money when buying game consoles and whatnot.

Yup! There is a way to rip any of the music from GT3 in CD quality, but it is quite a laborious process. :(

Anyway if you still want to do it then you can find instructions on a webpage I created a few years ago.

You will however need a PC equipped with a "DVD ROM" drive. You will also need to a "Windows Start Up Disk" and basic "MS DOS" skills.

If you still wanna have a go at ripping the music from the GT3 disk, then the details can be found HERE

Hope that helps ya!

BTW, I only found this forum while looking for a way to rip the music from GT4. My "Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec" - Audio Ripping Tutorial doesn't work for GT4. :(

Actually, with Windows XP you don't need the s tart up disk. I copied and pasted it directly from the disk to my hard drive in a window. Alternately, you couuld go to "Run", type "cmd" and do what the instructions say from there. I think it's an old set of instructions. Haven't tried on GT4 yet, but I will today.

I've just realised I have loads of tracks from the GT series spread among my CD collection, I'll have to collect them all together I think...

Feeder - Just A Day (GT3)
Kaiser Cheifs - I Predict A Riot (GT4)
Yello - Oh Yeah (GT4)
Franz Ferdinand - Michael (GT4)
The Cardigan's - My Favourite Game (Rollo Mix) (GT2)
Stereophonics - The Bartender & The Theif (GT2)

got more but can't remeber them at the moment...
