Thought this might be a fun topic. Anyone planning a road trip for this year? Or two?

The only one I have planned so far for this year is at the end of April. Taking a few days off from work to drive up to Utah for the SCCA World Challenge race. Will be making stops and camping at Lake Powell and Zion National Park along the way. Will also stop at the Grand Canyon for a quick look around.

Can't wait!

Just spent the last few days planning our European trip in June. Luckily, Pete is quite happy to let me pick the routes and where we will stop, he knows I won't choose boring roads! :)

We're heading to the Alps this year, including doing the 2nd and 3rd highest passes, Col de l'Iseran in France, and the Stelvio Pass in Italy. Travelling through France, Italy, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria and Germany, 5 of those in one day! :)

Total mileage for the 8 day trip will be around 2,500.

Can't wait. :)

What a wonderful road trip you had man! :)

Envious of you that the broadness of European continent and the U.S. does enable you to cross the boaders more easily without using an aerial plane... Unlike island countries as Japan and lack of adventurous people who attempt to make such a hasty travel.

Sometime in March-May, I plan on driving to VIR to meet a friend for the first track outing in his Ultima GTR, and maybe I'll get to do some laps in my Z.

I did some awesome road trips when I lived in the States, despite the roads being a tad boring.

Buffalo to Detroit in about 6 hours
Buffalo to Chicago in about 14 hours (side-trip to Indianapolis)
Buffalo to St. Paul in around 19 hours
Buffalo to Miami in 24 hours
Buffalo to Boston in 7 hours (had to stop every 15mins to pee)

I did all the driving in these, and they were awesome. Nowadays I can barely keep awake for more than 90 minutes while driving, but hey.

When I plan road trips, I take the scenic route 9 times out of 10 if one is available.

Grand Junction, CO to Moab, UT via I-70 = Boring

Ehhh Heading down South to Dublin at the start of Feb with the GF and her best mate and her BF so should be great. I'm driving as I dont drink alcohol and they wanna get messy so yeah.

During the summer I will probably head all the way north to Portrush or that and then over to Donegal :)

I have my heart set on driving across the US in 2013. Most likely L.A-New York.

Not sure whether to hire a car or ship my own out. I'd love to do the journey in Fernando but it won't be cheap...

I'm heading from Norwich (East Anglia) to Edinburgh (Scotland) for a stag weekend, 5 loud blokes in a car on a 360mile drive

Here's the route:

Should be a collosal laugh!

Where are you heading in Edinburgh?

If I pass my test and get a car I will be driving up to Fort William for the MTB World Cup. If I don't get a car then it'll be by bus.

After graduation, me and my friends are going to try to go to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb this year, its awesome because its also on the day of my 18th birthday!

You lucky bastard!!!! I'd "borrow" that Ultima, because it's an excellent car, and at Virginia? I'm completely and utterly jealous!!!

We'll be taking a trip from Adelaide SA to Newcastle NSW(an hour north of Sydney) in March, hopefully, if Jack gets time off work. Off to see my daughter, his sister. 1523kms each way plus, no doubt, a lot of driving to and fro visiting family as well as Blake & Matt.
Was hoping Jack would have his licence by then so he could share the driving but not much hope of that now. Not sure if I will do it in one hit or two depends on how much sleep I get. His sister and her fiance did the trip last month in one hit, took them 15 1/2 hours.

I drove all the way to Neodesha, Kansas recently. Going via Kansas City was boring as hell. On the way back we went direct to St. Louis from Neodesha, through the northern Ozarks, and that was a much better route. Besides the never-ending drive through eastern Kansas and western Missouri, passing just north of Joplin, which was boring as hell.

I'll be buying a car in the summer, so hopefully me and my mates can make regular roadtrips across the country to all the away games at the football.

Fingers crossed!

I've got one planned the end of July heading down the West Coast over 9 days with my girlfriend.

I live just outside Vancouver, BC and I'll be heading to a little town called Rogue River, Oregon where I have family and spend a night there. A 8-10 hour drive with stops highly dependent on rush hour in Seattle and Portland.

Day 2 is a 7 hour drive to Santa Cruz, CA where I have more family and spend 3 nights with them. Then it's back up the coast to San Francisco for 3 nights.

On the way back, stop in Rouge River for 2 nights and then home.

Should be a good time and hopefully warm. I've finally got a car good enough for that much freeway driving so I'm pretty excited for it. 1600 km each way.

And I would trade it for a ticket to the USGP.
