Ok, so I just decided to try the roadster enduro out, sounded like alot of fun.. bunch of bone stock MX5's running-round for 40 laps. Well, it was fun, but I didn't quite measure up as well as I would have liked. I came in 4th :( So does anybody have any tips out there on this race? I know pitting is a major strategy. Speaking of which, how many laps do yall get on which MX5 in this race? I found that I could get about 4 good laps, IE-deep into the yellow zone, before my tires would really start to start pinkening, this was driving her hard, (although I found I had to do that just to keep up). Anybody got a preference on which miata? I chose the priceiest 99+ model due to it's higher hp output. It was a little heavier than it's counterpart, but I figured the hp would be a better advantage than the very slight weight decrease. (maybe I was wrong) Also, has anybody used one of the 2nd gen. MX5's in that race? (2nd gen. being the older body style) I know in real life, (despite whatever you have read), that the older style is a better handler than the newer, (speaking strictly US-spec, I can't say anything about others), although so far I haven't had a chance to prove that. Has anybody seen this? Maybe tomorrow I will try getting the upper model 2nd gen. MX and running the enduro again. They definetly weigh in a lil bit less, maybe that weight difference will be what is needed for tire life and cornering? Of course the whole tire wear problem, could, and probably is, due to my driving style, but I don't know if I could do any better until I get my wheel ;) Ok, well if anybody has any insightful comments, I am grateful to hear...
peace,

-forgot to add, the 2nd gen. MX's were the last two in the race, nearly all through the race. this doesn't make that platform look too promising, but I know the computers driving habits can be much different than a real person etc..

 I encountered the same problem three days ago... I thought it's impossible to win the Roadster Enduro. I keep on landing in 5th and 6th place after about 15 laps. The "AI" just ran faster... Not until I found the SECRET...

Follow these TIPS and they will lead you to VICTORY!
😈 Have the most expensive Miata..
;) Change oil right after buying..
:D Go the TUNE-SHOP and purchase a SUPER-SLICK tire..
:p RACE with it..
;) Don't brake much.. Use it only when necessary.
😈 Pit only after about 12-15 laps..
:D IT SHOULD BRING YOU 40 seconds ahead.
;) Have an average Lap time of not less than 1'45"00.

Happy Racing!

Ok, I just ran her again and can I say I AM A FREAKIN MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was experimenting with the different miatas, just to see which worked best. Well, in the process I did the typical selling of a prize car in order to get money, just to play with. (plans were to reload and go win the money to buy the MX rather than losing any cars in the garage) Well, go figure, I found the right one and changed the oil just after buying and went to race. I then got so engrossed in the game that I forgot I was just playing around. I played it to the end and won, but now I'm down a big car :( I guess I'm going to not save it and make another go at it today. As for the race, this is my commentary... Looked bleak for at least 10 laps until I caught me and the first two places, (seemed to be acting as a team or somthing, pretty cool), in to a perfect pitting rythym. By perfect I mean I could hold 4-5 good laps on one set of tires while they, pushing themselves really really hard to keep up with my times, I would guess, had to pit every 3 laps. This went on, trading into 1st at the end of every third lap and me pulling through to the end of the fifth, hanging in 1st. Then I'd pit and come back out in 3rd, just to repeat the same process. Did it clear through to the 35 mark when they changed their pit time a bit, but I held out and one by a long shot. ONE PROBLEM, I FORGOT TO RELOAD AND LOST MY CLK IN THE PROCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, you're saying to go buy the miata tires? Will it let you do that? I though the car Had to be bone stock to run? Also, if you run a supersoft tire, it seems the wear factor would be quicker than of a stock tire, (dunno, never compared a SS to OEM equipment before), so as you would have to pit more? Guess I'll go find out... Man I wish I had remembered to reload! guess that just gives me more fun driving today tho ;)
peace,

Ok, you just made me look dumber, than I already felt, LOL. As stated, I thought the "normal car" aspect meant NO mods, so I raced that whole thing on stock Miata tires! All I can say is I did a dang good job. Too bad I just decided not to save it, hehehe. Today will be ENDURO DAY in Beverly WV :blackeye:

The best advice I could give would be to keep good lines and use all the road to keep the speed up.

Also good time can be made at the s-type bend near to the end of the circuit. As you go into the bend hit the curb on the right and then cut the exit bend slightly over the sand. You don't lose no time being in the sand and it allows you to go into that set of bends quicker allowing faster exit speed for the climb into the final corner which in turn gives you an advantage on the pit straight.

Well, I just played the roadster enduro another two times, hehehe. First time I started out with sport tires, but by about half into teh race, I was soo far ahead that I was getting bored. (was getting about 10 good laps on tires) So I restarted, but forgot I'd sold a car to get money to experiment with tires, (was again going to just reload and actually go earn the money if it looked necessary), so I re-loaded my game and played it all the way through with bone stock tires. It was a great race. I got my pitting rythem just right so that after teh first 15 laps, I would always come out in 1st and stay there, stretching my lead a few more seconds a lap. That is a really fun race to do, and now I can hand my friends their azz on a silver platter when we go against eachother on it :) I just must have not been driving too well that first run last night?! Thx for the info!

The speed was an altogether excruciating issue !!! After all those top muscle cars and jazzers like the 787B and F001, the Miata was pain to run downhill at 3rd with 105 kph on the gauge !!!

Sounds like that this is one slow race!

All day racing boring!!

Sounds like I'll need a few pit stops myself - to the loo :)

lol....if ur young and naive, its ok i understand

if not...hahahahhaha
on a serious note, if u have an I-A licence and the miata 1.8i with super hard tyres, u can drive in reverse and win the race....i think i almost lapped all the racers coz i only had to pit stop 3 times. The other miata 1.8i pit-stops every 3 laps. The other cars arent really much of a challenge.

p.s. thanx for the laugh 😈

lol....just use super hard, the difference isnt that huge and u'll be changing tires constantly

the harder the tire, the longer it lasts but has less grip (not a big deal on a mazda miata)
the softer it is the better grip it has but wears out much MUCH quicker

do urself a favor, use friggin super hard

Hey man, to each his own. But personally I'd rather get a little bit of competition than just run cirlces around everybody, especially if I'm gonna be driving an enduro. As for your young and naive comment, I guess you were trying to be funny but I believe you are a few years my junior.. Anywho, the point of the game, and the forum, is to have fun, so happy GT'ing! :)
