  • Maybe. This might only be a niche rebirth of plastic instruments.

  • No. The plastic instruments should have gone nonexistent after RB3.

I can't believe that there hasn't been a thread for Rock Band yet.

Here's a link for proof that it has been announced.

Available for PS4 and Xbox One on holiday 2015.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this. The rhythm game genre had its boom, but after RB3, it died. I'm not saying that it will only be a niche attempt to revive the plastic instrument games, but I don't think it will be as miraculous as 2007 with Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band 1, the time that the genre peaked.

So, what do you guys think? Vote on the poll.

If it does come to fruition, I want to see them go deep with it. The vanilla track list should be memorable hits, and with more artist because if I don't see more than 2 ZZ Top songs and 3 Stevie Ray Vaughan's then I'm gonna have to take a hard look at it.

On top of that, I'd bet there will have to be a new RBN, meaning...I don't know. What I DO know is that last I heard you still couldn't use PS3/360 purchases on PS4/X1, I'm probably wrong though, but that means ALL those songs people bought are no longer usable unless Harmonix can figure out how to roll them over.

I'm excited.
Both to play the game, and to make fun of people that dislike "plastic instruments". The latter can usually be found pushing thumb sticks to simulate reality, but complains of better plastic instruments that better simulate reality. :p

Well the wife has a real guitar weight wise. it has buttons and a strum bar yes but the rest is full size wooden guitar. if you use the default guitars there made of plastic no getting away from it but there are other options.

I never wanted a real guitar, drum set maybe, but a plastic guitar brought me closer to playing guitar than a DS3 or anything else ever will.

Um no they have said they will not release until they can get all of your old purchases working on the new consoles. It will be limited to 360 to One and PS3 to PS4 though I'll have to find the article later since I'm leaving for work now.

That would be an awesome move if they can get it done.

It's plausible. Kojima is making it possible to roll forward Ground Zeroes save data from the PS3/360 to the PS4/XBO for bonus rewards in The Phantom Pain.

I heard about this a couple weeks ago and I am very excited indeed. I still play RB2 on my 360 a few times a year and ALWAYS have a blast. Also heard most of the songs will transfer over. Along with the instruments. Not sure how much of this is true but if the songs I purchased transferred over that would be a huge bonus. If this is true it will be a day 1 purchase for me for sure. 👍

The one game my gf truly enjoyed, so much so that she tried her damnedest to move up the skill level all the time. She managed to get to hard before we had gotten rid of our PS3. She would love this, and so would I.

Truly a lot of fun especially since you can join online and play with randoms. That was my favorite part of the game was the simple fact there was always someone online to play with for the online road trip. I usually play the drums. If someone is using the drums then I will play guitar or bass. I NEVER sing.

I heard somewhere that there was an option to not hear whoever was singing while playing online. Was that true?
Most singers mute their mic right before the song starts. That way they can still sing the song, while not being heard by the other players in the game.

WHoa bad news for sure. RB4 will not be launching with online multiplayer!! :ouch:

They say it will come later but no one really knows how long that will be. Not good.

EDIT: I picked up the bundle anyway. Sure enough, no online, but worse, no surround sound, and very little character customization, and some pre-purchased DLC does not work. Clearly a beta for this gen. So those of you that are interested, stick with RB2 or RB3 for now. This will still be fun for my lan parties I have several times a month with friends and family. But overall it truly was not ready for the public yet. Nowhere near finished.

Just seriously keep in mind this is more like a beta. No online, no surround sound, there is not even a jack on the drums for a headset so they clearly were not putting much thought into placing this online. If they do eventually add online, you will have to communicate through the Kinect. That's going to be a nightmare in this game if they add online. Not well thought out at all.

If you decide to pick it up, just think of it only as a game for local play. About the only good news is that you are able to use ALL of your dlc you have ever purchased from the RB series. You just have to filter through ever rock band song ever made from the series and re-download each song individually. I started at the A artists and after last night I am at about the D artists. I think the series has well over 3,000 songs you have to filter through. Takes a while.

For those who would really like to play an instrument I would recommend Rocksmith 2014! That actually makes you connect a real guitar and achieves to make you learn playing an instrument for real. A lot more fun as well.
